My 8V71 TA started idling way too high. Fast idle is even higher. Checked the air throttle which seems not to be the cause.

Suggestions appreciated.

The fuel that the engine burns at idle has to come from somewhere. The injectors, due to governor or rack problem, engine oil coming past the rings or engine oil coming past the blower seals.

Each of these causes is hazardous, so you shouldn't travel until you have it under control.

For what it's worth.
