my newly started 4106 conversion has this lighting thing going on like the lights throb or pulse kinda hard to explain but all the lights do it even the headlights even when crusing speeds

THIS IS pretty normal for an 06.

The system was designed to run those 2 X 60 to 80 A blowers for the air vent and heating .

When just asked to charge 2 8D batterys and not much more , you get the flicker.

Driving with some loads on {headlights} helps a bit.

When it gets bad the gen light will flicker too, showing NO charge.After all how much can a charged bat set absorb?

Be sure to re-set the voltage regulator as many will overcharge with the air blowers loads off.

A biggest culprit seems to be a good batt charger.
In a campground the batts will be brought to 100% , and then there is very little for the huge system to do.

WE don't use a converter/charger unless plugged in for days , preferring to have the batts sink to 90% and let the alt top the system off, but they STILL flicker some.

G.C. has a method of rewiring the V-regulator supply that seems to work.

Folks that boondock much , and need to top off the house and equalize deep cycle batts use the pri$y 3 stage regulators with good success.

Enjoy the light show , but adjust the voltage , esp if you have Halogen Head lights.

Is there not a bias adjustment on the 06 voltage regulator. It would seem that if the pulsing is a result of low loads on the alternator as Fred has described then a more wide bias between "on" and "off" would be a solution to slow the pulse. In other words, the pulse would be over minutes instead of milli-seconds and thereby not as noticeable and less of a nuisance. This would also explain why at larger loads the pulsing stops because the alternator is "on" more of the time.
