I have a 9.5kw Next Gen Kubota diesel generator with a Stamford head. Doing the math, it should produce about 40amps. What size circuit breaker should I put on it? I want to protect the head but also avoid nuisance tripping. Thanks in advance, John

40amp at what voltage? If your talking 120V, a 9.5kw generator should produce double that figure. So I take it for granted your talking 240.
We used a main breaker slightly less than rated capacity.

You should be able to find specs for your generator on-line.

Need to know if you are wiring into a 120 or 240v system and also the capability of your generator.
