Both of our places have a septic system , so when we move aboard for a while the lifestyle goes up as the coach has a garbage disposal that the bride loves.

For the folks that want to have washing machine and use a house dishwasher in their coach water pressure and volume become a problem.

I use the Sureflow that was sold as a deckwash pump , $130 VS $65 for the RV style with little capacity.AS we have only sink and shower , the purchase of the better unit was to get longer life from the motor.

For the folks that really want to empty the water tanks Headhunter is a source of pumps that will really help.

Visit www.headhunter.com and troll till you find the Mach 5 water pressure system , 20 gal per min at 67 psi .
That should keep your ice maker happy , although it sure will empty tanks in a hurry!

For the guy with loads of $$$$$$$$$ , its a boat part.

By your implication, you seem to think that disposals are bad for septic systems. They are not. There are thousands of us with septics and disposals and never have any trouble. What doesn't decompose is pumped out during the biennial cleanout of the tank. My system is now 26 years old and never had a problem with a packed tank or any other unusual conditions. Buy the bride a disposal (or two) and live happily everafter.

Jim, AS a kid from the Bronx , I never really learned the ins & outs of a septic system, anything just flushed , and vanished.
We installed the septic system in CT over 45 years ago {as a kid I remember helping dig the hole }.

About 2 years ago , we had reason to open the tank , for the first time and there wasn't an inch of sludge , after all those years.

I think because we only use the cottage 6 months {heat but no insulation} the stuff in the tank eats itself tll everything is all gone.
And the grey water goes to its own field.

Our neighbor in FL has a disposal and gets stuck for a clean out 2X a year.

The bride is happy with the story , of no disposal in septic tanks , so I wont wise her up , and get a bill every 6 months.

IN the coach it works fine , smelly stuff like shrimp cleanings don't have to go in the dumpster in the middle of the night , just down the drain!

Fred, I have lived in Florida with septic tanks all my life. Garbage disposals do not pose a problem. Fat does. We always separate fat and never let it go down the drain.

(Some stories about septic tank problems people tell probably relate to cess pools which are basicly open pits with a lid on. They drain out the bottom, a sand bottom tank, which is now illegal.)
