I have an 83' MCI-9 and will be raising the roof. Before I get started I would like to cut the inserts. What size and type of tubing do the have. Also what is the thickness. Regards Jay |

Jay, cannot tell you about the tubing but would be interested to know if you have any of the parts left from the overhead luggage racks? I am looking for several pieces of plastic, end caps and potentially the small clear lense cover for the indirect lights on the rack arms to the ceiling. Thanks Grant |

the tubing is 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 x 16 gauge thick. I ordered mine from the local steel supplier, about 1 dollar a foot |

I would consider 14 gauge for more strength if you can get it. 16 ga burns through very easy when you are trying to weld it. |

Grant, Sorry I have gotten rid of most of the materials. I only have the reading lights and florescent lights and lots of speakers. I do not recall if I kept any of the plastic. I am working in St. Paul MN but my home is in San Diego where the bus is. When I go home I will look in my bag of goodies. For every one else thank you for getting back on my question. I will now be able to start the process. |
