Hi Buswarrior, Since I joined this board in Jan/04,I have converted two buses. The first one was an Ex Edmonton transit bus. This was a big mistake, mainly because of the very slow speed and fuel consumption.I have since sold the bus at a conciderable loss. The second is a Bluebird school bus which I still have. Both of these buses were converted for the entertainment of my grandchildren. Now, I have the opportunity to pick up a 1980 Prevost Model TS47. It is in very good shape and the price is very reasonable. Have you had any experience with this model? and could you tell me if it is a good one to convert? I plan on using this bus for my retirement,(which is just arround the corner) and full timming with it. I hope I do not offend anyone by posting this way. If I have, put it down as a mistake, accept my appologies and it wo'nt happen again. Thanking you in advance,I am, Emery |

Emery, You're doing just fine and Ewen is just the man to speak up and respond to your post! With your courtesy and approach I don't forsee you asking the types of questions that will offend the more sensitive personalities on this BB. Myself, I have to exercise patience as I can type faster than I think (yes, that slow for those of you living in Rio Linda! ) All you gotta do is show some diligence and forethought and the BB will be a better place for your participation. Hello Emery. I don't have any older Prevost experience. I've only fooled with H3-45's in the '95 to present vintages. I grew up an MCI guy. You might try a fresh post with a title like: "Wanting to buy a 1980 Prevost: opinions?" to get a broader input from the Board watchers. Prevost was pre-Volvo ownership in 1980, and their market share was only a fraction of what it is today. One thing you might try is to contact Prevost and ask them how much support they can offer for that vintage model. Prevost is still one of those kind of comapnies that care about all their customers, big and small. You'll find them online at www.prevostcar.com The usual searches for rust and general mechanical condition apply to any potential bus purchase. It seems to me that what matters in choosing a shell to convert has more to do with that individual vehicle's condition, and whether its looks catch your fancy, than which brand. If you like its looks, and it's in good shape, and the price is right, then it is the right bus for you! I hope this has been of some assistance! happy coaching! buswarrior |
