I need any information on what heater this is.... how do I know if it is working, useable, etc. And if it is working and useable, how do I start it and run it?

I found this heater in the engine bay of my mC9. It is mounted under the back seat. It looks clean. The wiring runs somewhere into the tunnel. I can't figure out any extra switches on the dash or control panel. There is one pull-out/push-in red knob thing at my left elbow, but it hardly moves. So I can't figure that would be a switch. Could you all help me??

Thanks!

Guy, I ran "Espar water heater" thru Google and found several sites, with pictures. It is probably a coolant heater. HTH

I have an Espar that came stock in my bus, a 1995 Prevost. Exactly like a Webasto, even shares some of the same parts. A coolant heater it is. Although if you have a part/model number it would be handy. I have a switch on the left of the drivers seat, although it could be mounted anywhere. It could also be controlled by a climate control heating system. They have a circuit that keeps power to it all the times, so after it is shut off, it can go through the cool down cycle on its own. they have several sensor based shutoffs in them, such as an overtemp auto shutdown. It can burn out or get stuck and need to be replaced or reset. If it hasnt' been used in a long time its a good idea to open up the combustion chamber and clean it out. It also has an injector that can get clogged etc. Reliable and works great. They come in 42,000 and 82,000 btus.

Not sure why an MCI 9 would need or have one.
