Can't use an automotive one, cut and marked to your original?

Mine ain't that long, but a simple braze will suffice,
wouldn't it?

You can get longer ones from a van or pickup and then braze or rivet it on old cap/handle.

Good suggestion John.

Larry, I'm scrapping the 8v71 out of my AMG, it overheated and locked up. You can have the dipstick if you want it. All you need to do is cover the shipping cost. E-mail me off the board if you are interested.

The dipstick in a 1995-2003 PowerStroke Ford van is a good 5' long (gassers aren't more than a foot shorter).

The trans dipstick is a good 6-7'.

NAPA sells cut-to-fit dipsticks for about $15.
