I am changing steering units on my MC8. The old unit had red fluid (transmission fluid)
My new box wants 15W40 and sez don't mix oils.
How do I get the old stuff out of the pump and lines?
Thanks

Chuck: My MC9 has ATF in the power steering system. I would be inclined to stay with it even though you are changing the steering box. If you really want to change it, I would blow the lines out with air, drain the resevoir, and add 15/40.There would still be some residue of ATF, but not enough to hurt anything. IMO

I would be inclined to substitute Delo 400 0W/30 for either,And I would not be to concerned if I did not get 100% of the old out.
Thats just me,after 20 years working for a lubricants distributer..

Got 'er done. Thanks Donald and Wayne. After getting into it, it turned out to be a good time to replace the P/S filter and clean the pressure line filter as well.
