WE are still in Jacksonville. Work has started to flow in this past week. The companies providing it only pay once a month but I think everything will work out okay for the moment.
The park is working with us and not charging thanks to all the support and emails from the members of the group here. They are supposed to be refunding the monies we have paid to them, currently this has not happened. Redcross provided us with 665.00 this was a one time payment and would not be increased. Our insurance company has denied the claim on the house so far stating that it was flood damage. This is the same thing that they are doing on nearly 95% of the claims.

Ok, Just wondered. Glad you are Ok for the moment.

My wife heard a story from one of the returning "aid helpers" that just came back from the area. Seems that Fema is trying to keep the aid people in the dark and took away a TV set from one of the groups that was getting bored sitting around waiting for assignments & at night down time. Said they didn't want people using electricity. More like a communications blackout as they don't want the workers to know what is going on or something. also kept them secured in a guarded area at night under armed military guard too. The people were pissed and said they would not go back to help any more especially if Fema was in charge.
It was also said that FEMA is handing 50% of the recovery/rebuild funds directly to their prime contractors and leaving the subcontractors to divide up what is left who have to divide the balance bewteen the laborers. something like $50 a square on shingle/roof repairs for the crews.

Something STINKS with FEMA and the insurance companies. The rich get richer and the people who lost everything get shafted right along with anyone that is trying to help. Old story isn't it!...
