Am considering changing to the 22.5 size tires on my bus from the standard. I've heard the truck type tires are cheaper and easier to come by. I can get a great deal on some new rims. Anybody have any input? |

Hey Nick, We changed from 22.5 to 24.5's for the same reasons plus a little more speed on the flats w/our RTS. After much agonizing we decided that the new tires needed Alcoa rims and it took 9 months to get 'em cause of thier backlog. Another unpleasent suprize was that we had to have longer lug studs to accomodate the thicker wheels and they were around $8ea and lug nuts at $5 so that was a $500 blindside! I doubt we'll ever burn enough rubber off da bus to gain the tire price difference in pretty wheels but a couple of sets just might pay for those damn lug nuts&bolts! TonyW |

IF you go to http://home1.gte.net/res07rfl/, and find the computer section you can easily figgure what the tyre change will do for your RPM/road speed. Usually the bigger wheels are a help , unless you live in Rocky Top , and never get out of the hills. For T drive coaches , wher rear gear ratio swops are easy , you can dream up any combo.
