Just wondering what a paint job would run for a 40 footer with new skin and caps. Thanks for the help. |

In Mexico? Or at the custom shop? The price will vary from $4000 (Mexico) to "The Sky is the limit!" Do you "need" 20 coats of hand rubbed lacquer with a mural on the back of your first signifant life event (add $10,000) or will rustoleum rolled on do? FAST FRED |

__. If you're on the East Coast, I suggest that you contact Central Carolina Body Works 4956 Old Marlboro Rd Sophia, NC 27350, telephone (336) 861-4487. Their email is ccbw1990@aol.com or delswick@triad.rr.com. __. The contact person is Scott Elswick. They did a great paint job (on my English double-decker bus) for me for about $7500 including three color trim, paneling over three windows, and over 50 hours of body work to strip and rectify crummy earlier work, with added body work to repair damage. __. They have two full-size paint booths and do a lot of work for "Greyhound/Trailways" in NC, independent coach companies, and school bus companies (they are near High Point, NC). The job on my bus is beautiful (they'll do plain-jane and "rolling-Nashville-cathouse" paint jobs) and I recommend them very highly. |

Bruce, Your right.... Central Carolina Body Works is a great place to go to for paint & body. They have really come on strong in the last few years. And you don't have to learn Spanish. They are getting quite a following in the bus industry. I have some other really good painters across the country, (Including some guys from across the border that do the paint in the US). Jimmy It mostly depends on the prep work. I just let a good friend paint my ****Coach**** I think it looks great (I'll try to get I@N to post some pictures). When I was checking around for price Quotes here in NJ. They ranged from 3 grand, to 6 grand for plane white enamel, black around the windows nothing fancy. Painting a bus is truly allot of prep work |

Jimmy - My guy painted my bus, took out the AC unit, the AC condenser, and the toilet tank, for a whopping $1,200 smackers. I don't have the updated pictures yet, but this is what is looked like at the time we took the last set of pictures: http://www.dialup4less.com/~aabn/ Don't let the guys scare you, you can get the job done well, at a decent price! |

Have no prices but preparation is the biggest labor share of whole paint project. So if you can clean, putty, sanding, masking, and prime paint the whole bus is at least 2/3 of expensive labor saved. You can sand’s fast drying primer “runs” to correct but slow drying finish coat cannot. Also cannot spot paint unless surrounding still wet. If “runs” developed with color coat, have to wait several weeks or months before wet sanding and paint that whole panel. After color finish is satisfied, clear coat it. If you have vinyl graphic or lettering on painted surface, use heat gun to peel off slowly as you pull & move gun. Then use adhesive remover solvent to clear sticky traces from surface. Leave the large vehicle finishing coat to experience & knowledgeable painter and done in enclose moisture & temperature control and dust free room for smaller part of whole price. John Jewett (Jayjay) is knowledgeable painter according to his reports. Click on “Search”, type “JJ paint” & keyword “And” “Steve 80 Crown Atomic” has a long article about his profession for painting aircraft. No longer archived on other BB. If you want, send me your e-mail without the "X"s and I will send to you. All my out mail is scan Trend Micro PC-cillin checked. Steve 80 Crown Atomic are you there? Another one of big help in riveting and painting expertise. FWIW Sojourn for Christ, Jerry |
