Hi,
We have a 4106 with original windows. We need both glasses from a side window and the big rear window. Is anyone parting one of these out?
BTW, we sure have had fun with our bus!

Hi Fred, We're in Alaska, but our bus is in storage in Washington near Anacortes. If we have one shipped to us, I would have it shipped to the storage business if I can get them to agree to receive it for us.

I agree that they don't ship well, which is why I don't usually balk at paying a hefty crating charge for glass. I have asked Dean's Coach for quotes and have been waiting about a week for an answer.

Do you think that you could and would you be willing to build an adequate crate to ship them? If you would, what do you think you want for the pair of them?

By the way, we took your advice some time ago, and bought a mousetrap from Luke at US Caoch. I like it, but our manuals do not really show enough detail on the proper adjustment of these. We got the pedal effort cut in half, easily. Do you have anything, easily copied, that might give good detail on the adjustment procedure?

Thanks. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576, only a few numbers less than your coach!

Tom , The manual suppliment has all the mounting procedures for the mousetrap.

Have no way to crate for a shippment to AK , arent there any scrap yards , seems there would be room enough in AK!

If you can pick them up , or have someone going to visit get them , there FREE , as they were for me.

Fred, I'll think on how we might be able to work getting them shipped. What towns in CT an FL are you talking about?

BTW, have you done the clutch adjustment that involves changing the arm one spline (17 degrees) yet? We have just about run out of thread on the knob adjustment and we're going to have to do ours, soon.

I looked the linkage over, and it looks as though it might be pretty difficult. I've read the manual, but I haven't been able to get a feeling about it, yet.

Tom , I have read about that , but it seems thats the last resort , as the book sez its the method to COMPLETLY finish the clutch.

Worries me , but the procedure seems simple enough.

Are you sure you dont want to just rebuild the clutch you have?

I havent priced that option , yet.

Call LUKE at 1-888 COACH 34 for pricing .

We are in Middletown Ct or Ortona FL {50 miles outside FT Meyers}.

The glass is now in CT.

Fred, Both clutch discs were replaced about 7500 miles ago and the pressure plate was refaced, so I think it should just need to be adjusted.

I had two worries, one that there might not be enough thread on the rod with the mousetrap threaded onto it and that I might have trouble doing the adjustment because of lack of room around the lever.

I'll probably call Luke's partner if I think I need any more info before I do the adjustment.

I'll make some calls to see if I can figure out what to do to ship the glass. If I come up with something, I'll post another message here.

Thanks. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576

The clutch adjustment rod is the same with or without the moustrap.

Do you have the suppliment to the manual?

Fred, we do have the supplement showing the mousetrap. I've read it, but I didn't think it had enough detail for me to be sure about the adjustments.

The reason the mousetrap might make a difference is that the threads on the rod seem to be just enough to handle the 17 degree step on the spline.

The mousetrap rod uses up some of the available thread on the clutch rod because it threads right onto the clutch rod.

Before I start on the job, I'll carefully measure the length of the clutch lever and calculate exactly the amount of thread I'll need to adjust the spline one notch.

This was done once before, but not by me, so I will do it myself, just to be sure. The suggestion then was maybe I would need to thread more of the clutch rod.

Thanks for your help.

DA Book has a procedure for checking that the clutch lever is in correct position.

Could just be the adjustment you need .

You could buy a new coach for what Dean's would charge to pack and ship it. I just got a light switch and a 1/4 in. brass pipe fitting from him, and the shipping/handling was $18.10 on 3oz!!! The quoted $3.00 fitting became $10.00 on the invoice, and the $6.00 to $8.00 switch became $10.00. I sent the pipe fitting back (wrong one) by U.S. Mail for $.95 cents. 'Nuff Said. ...JJ

JJ, I know what you mean. With us living in Alaska, the Post Office beats out most other options if it can be shipped that way.

As to Dean's Coach, mostly its been a mixed bag for us. I thought his prices were OK for our kit to convert to spring brakes, but it has taken a long time to get answers on parts.

From the remarks that I get when I call, he's not there a lot. What's actually going on, I don't know.

If we ever get over to that coast, I hope to stop in and see his operation.
