I am converting a 59 4104.
I am considering keeping the original wiring,
and also considering replacing it all.
If I keep the wiring, what should I clean the
electric panel boards (front& rear) with?
Strong soap and a pressure washer?
Thanks
Tony

Don't pressure wash those wires, they have fabric jackets that will disintegrate. Our 59 4104's terminal boards were all green & nasty. I sprayed the terminals with Corrosion Block & did nothing else. Soon they looked fine & the nuts unscrewed when I wanted them to. I'm not doing anything else. I have had no problems.

If you are ripping everything out to the skin, then rewire with modern wire. If I were doing a bus over 20 years old & was gutting it, I would run new wires.

Which ever way you go, all new or keeping the old, be sure to run spares while you have the beast gutted. The former owner of our 4104 did that when he did the origina conversion and it has saved me a lot of work when an original wire has failed. -- Don

I use the original Corrosion Block. It's kind of a blue green color and thick light a light oil rather than watery like other stuff. It spreads out & creeps down threads well. There is also a Corrosion X that I have used which is similar. These are not "nut busters" but rather a more long term treatment. They will penetrate well but slowly. If you need to loosen something NOW use PB Blaster or similar.
