Got a call and said Pick up the bus due to Wilma getting close. We thought that would be a good idea so we went yesterday and picked it up. There were no problems on the trip home. I did notice the air built up to about 125-130 lbs and that was normal before while running down the road but, it would go down to about 105-110 while stopping and very slowly return to the 125-130 mark. I know that using the brakes bleeds off air pressure but it never went this low before. It would always go down a few pounds but never around the 100 mark. Could the new governor be making this happen and is there and adjustment that can be made to keep this from dropping that low? Also would this adjustment make the air build back up faster as it used to? The mechanic that did the work said that MCI's are set around 90-120 and this is what I thonk he may have done which is to set it like the MCI's! Thanks Ace |

Ace, I think you should have a pressure differential in the 30 pound area, so your numbers sound about right. A little on the high side in my opinion though. Richard |

Ace, The cut-in and cut-out pressures can be adjusted on the governor. The settings that you have now are probably the settings that were set when the govenor was built/rebuilt. If you make multiple quick brake applications at low engine speed such as when backing into a parking spot next to your house, this can cause the pressure to drop more than normal. If you want to increase the cut-in pressure, give Earl a call. It is only about a 15-30 minute job, if the governor is easily accessible. Hope this helps, Jack |

Thanks guys! Jack Yea I know Earl can do it or show me how to do it as he played around withit before trying to diagnose the dryer problem. Wasn't sure if the numbers I have now are normal or if it could be put back like it was! I'll let him know he has a simple lesson to teach me soon! Thanks again... Ace |

Hi Ace if you get the setting close it makes the compressor run all the time not much time between stop and go this will put more ware on the compressor. There should be about 5 to 10 minutes between stop and running. I would leave it set at what it is. Fred North Fla Bus Conversion. |
