Could anybody with the right Knowledge explain to me the Pro and Cons between a Single and A Tag Axel, since I am planning of purchasing a 1980 Eagle 10 with a Single Axel. Thank you in Advance. Look forward to hear from you. Regards Jurgen e-mail:a.germanjoe@verizon.net |

The hassle comes with 40 ft coaches that only have a single axle. The feds say you can only run 20,000 on a rear axle and these coaches can be very close , with no interior. The 40GM are much lighter than the Eagles , so suffer less. AS townships OWNED the roads in their towns, they could avoid the fed rules , but we cant. A conversion weighs about 4000 to 6000 over what the empty coach does. Before you buy it get to someplace that can weigh each end. {many truck stops, $5.00 or $6.00} If the rear end weighs close to that 20,000 you need a coach that has a tag , for another 12,000 of cap.
