Hi Jerry and Folks:

I am going to jump in here to let you know that FAST Fred and Charlene (his wife) are O.K. They left Conn. today, arived here this afternoon, will stay here tonight on their 4106 and leave early tomorrow A.M. enroute to Florida.

I asked Fred if he had talked to his Fla. neighbors about his home there and he told me that the home had lost some shingles and one neighbor has their key, went inside and there was some inside water damage in one area, but otherwise the home was O.K.

Fred knew that the roof had to be replaced and hoped to do it this winter, but told me today that he was waiting for Florida approval of a "NEW" tile that is almost impossible to destroy, but depite many calls to Fla. Govt. offices, has not been approved.

So I am sure our Fast Fred will "Fight the Fight" when he gets to Florida for himself and for many others who need the help to further protect their homes from future storms.

I Hope our bus community friends in Fla. survived Wilma in Good Health and with their possessions in tact!!!

My 83 year old Mom was not so lucky. She left before the storm, drove South and stayed with a sister in Hollywood, then yesterday drove back up to check out her house, only to find the entire Mobile Home Park in shambles. She described driving in as driving through a DUMP!!!! In Lake Worth, Fla., her Mobile Home was ravaged, will have to be towed to a dump and this, without insurance, since she could not buy affordable Home Owners Insrance in May, when her policy expired. She and my sister are still there and in it, with a hole in the roof patched, (thanks to a nephew who lives nearby), no water, electricity or gas. I wanted to fly down there today to help get them out, but the airports are all closed.

Talk about feeling HELPLESS!!!

Happy & SAFE!! Bussin' to ALL.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT WHEN THE GOING IS TOUGH, AND THE TOUGH GET GOING: My deceased Mother in Law had a plate in her Home that read:

"I was feeling sorry for myself because I did not have shoes, until I met a Man who did not have FEET!!!!

FWIW, Susan and I had no damage what so ever other than a lot of cleaning up of leaves and branches from the neighbors large tree.

The good thing was that we both were in Montgomery Al. racing (where I won by the way) and we had beautiful weather there and on the drive home on Monday, though the neighbors said it rained all day until we pulled in and it stopped. I guess Wilma was going on about her merry way up the East coast as we came down the West coast.

Anyway, sorry for everyone's loss! We went thru the same thing last year with my dads MH in Lake Wales. He too had NO insurance and all that's left there is a concrete slab and the yard. FEMA came thru and helped him out really well, so don't wait to contact them. They were REAL generous for what he had!

Luke...Thanks for report but am so sorry about your mother's home in shamble. Perhaps FEMA will help her to get a dry & comforting place until get into something of her own.

I kind of expect Fast Fred’s winter home be damage somewhat worse then your report. Good if only singles. I think the edge of eye touch there.
Good that they were not there during storm.

This is first time being in hurricane wind storm and cold wind from north. Eye was passing by 70 miles from where I am (at Jack Conrad). Everything OK here, thank you Lord.

Ace…I remember your father’s home destroyed from “Charlie”.

To all others, hope no physical injury or death happen thorough this storm.

Luke,

Tell your family we have room. We converted our garage into an "apartment" about (4) years ago. And an extra bedroom that we don't use. They can stay with us until they figure something out. We are in Orlando (Apopka). Let me know. My wife works for Seminole County Emergency Services and may have some contacts with FEMA, etc....Anything I can do to help out, let me know. We have been very slow here (IBP)the last couple of months & we are only working a (32)hour week, so I am off on Mondays. If you need me to go down & help I have (3) day weekends.

Hi Rich:
Thanks for your interest, concern and your kind offer of HELP!!!

My Mom actually was holding a deposit for a potential sale of here mobile home.

I have another sister in Hollywood, 2 nephews in the area as well as a Sister in Law who lives in the same park. So we have a bunch of help there to just salvage what they can and ship it up here.

Rich I HOPE business gets better!!! I knew the cost of fuel would affect all us involved in the bus industry and we are starting to feel it here as well.

Happy & SAFE!! Bussin' to ALL.

Except for some leaking where the roof shingles left everything is just fine.

Will be fighting with the Bureau RATS till 1 Jan to use a good roofing product.

If the RAT delay hasnt been solved , it will be the std shingles (that pass Miamy Dade code) .

At 63 I was hoping to use aluminum shingles (Zappone) that have a claimed 50 year life , or till the price went insane the copper with 100!

Now thanks to the Talahasse RATS I may be up there 15 years from now , replacing the "30" year shingle garbage.

Hope by then we have 30 year solar shingles to power the air cond or provide an income all summer selling power CA style to the utilitys!
