Guys,

What Detroit number turbo is used with 85mm injectors in a 6v92? Apparently Detroit doesn't release this information to prevent liability.

Thanks,

Hey Tom,
I may can help you, but I need the year of the engine. Is a TA or T or DDEC and the injector #. The number can be 9285, 9a85, 9b85, 9e85, 9g85, 9h85 etc. Plus some of the later ones can have a 7 digit #.

But most likely you should have turbo TV-7511, but that would be just a guess

Dale,

Thanks for your help. It is an 84 bus, TA, no DDEC. We decided to go with 80's and got the turbo number from Pedco. The bus had 75's and the guy at Pedco said we might be pushing the cooling to go with 85s.

I'd tell you what turbo number we bought, but I don't have that information right now. Our Mechanic does.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom -

IIRC, Geoff set up the 6V92TA in his RTS for 350 hp using 9G90 injectors, but I don't remember the turbo he used. Maybe he'll chime in on this thread and help.

RJ,

Thanks for the suggestion. We're stayin a little low on the injectors to assure cooling so 90's are out of the question.

Found condensation on the dipstick when I was in Kingsburg last week. Made Napa to have Mike Peppers work on it. One copper leaking in each head. He found turbo had some damage also, probably when it belonged to NJT. Has been sluggish since we got it, so now we know some answers.

Hopefully next time we're in the area we'll have more time, less need to move quickly, and we'll do lunch at Superior Creamery as we discussed nearly two years ago.

A TV7511 is the correct turbo model, the DDC part number for a 325HP coach is 8927031 (A/R 1.08).
