I took bus for a spin and noticed colder at back of bus.I have already layed new floor and can't change stainless that has more vents. So am thinking on blocking bedroom vents and drilling more vents up front where I need more cold air when driving. Pros and cons would be appreciated. thanks leon |

Leon, what kind of vents are you talking about? What kind of layout do you have? Are the vent from a closed room to the rest of the interior or from interior to the outside? More info needed. |

Hi Dave' I left the stainless venting along walls in.I noticed when I went for a drive more air is venting out rear.More holes back there.Iam going to plug some of them and drill more at frontand maybe put a damper near rear.any ideas.leon |

I got a bold idea. Get rid of the bus OTR AC and run house ACs from a genset or inverter while on the road. Bus AC will soon cost many $$ to repair. There are very few original OTR systems working in older private conversions. You may have an almost new coach, but what you are describing is often how the AC acts when starting to decline in performance. Just a recharge may cost $400 in materials...if you do your own work. More heatload on the front of the coach will make the rear seem cooler, which it is, because the AC cannot keep up with the loss in the front. Does the dash AC evap work? The drivers AC should make a lot of front cold air when underway. JR |

Hello lbrown. You are lucky! The rear of a stock coach is many times the devil to keep cool and/or warm. Lots of drivetrain heat radiates up through back there. Yours sounds like it is working great! Are there any vents in the sides of the stainless ducts? Have you tried opening/closing to change the air flow? Has there been a lot of garbage forced down inside the walls by all those passengers who think the holes below the windows are a convenient place to put their kleenex/gum/coffee etc? Has any part of the ducting been moved/come loose or otherwise corrupted the intended path of air? As noted by JR, is the dirver's AC functioning? It is part of the package. That stock HVAC system is supposed to work just fine without you having to modify it. Return it to proper working condition and you will be pleased! You aren't alone. I maintain the coach HVAC in an MC8. Stock AC at 80 000 btu (and more on a newer coach) cools of the coach in a hurry if it has been sitting in some attraction parking lot in the sun all day! happy coaching! buswarrior |
