Hey Bruce I use Exxon XD-3 40. Its recommended for 2 cycle Detroits. |

Main thing look on can for CF-2 (API Classification) and 40 SAE.

Can't you just use standard 15W40 diesel oil?
And if it is not acceptable, why not?

Pat, the right oil IS kind of a big deal. The ratings tell the story and the Tejas Coach link above furnishes the pictures.
We use the right oil and are getting right near 1,000 miles to the quart.
