I'm finally installing the Jake brakes on the 6V92 and need to know what is the clearance between the Jake actuator and the exhaust valve bridge?
Appreciate any input,
Is there any trick to wire each Jake bank individually?

Thanks,

Juan,
Here is a PDF installation booklet from jacobs
Hopefully all the info you need will be contained in it...

You can use either a single three position dash switch to select the two banks, or two individual switches. The two switches are probably easier since the three position switch is a bit of a weirdo to obtain (unless you buy a new one from jacobs...)

Something they don't show in their instructions is two diodes, each connected between a bank and ground. The diodes provide a path for inductive kickback current to flow when a bank is turned off, and using them adds major lifetime to the switch contacts. They would be 1N4001 types, the anode (lined end) going to the solenoid and cathode (plain end) going to ground. Avaliable at radio shack or almost any electronics supplier for 5-10 cents each.

I also like to put an indicator lamp on my dash to tell me they're activated.

Here's the schematic I use- it's a little different from yours because I don't have a buffer switch and you don't have three banks, but for the most part they are the same wiring as what you'd do...

Gary,
Thank you, this is the info I was looking for. I like the idea of the diodes and will follow the diagram. I will use a three position switch.

Thanks again,

Juan
