Happy Thanksgiving to All! Its snowing here too, my youngest son just loves that, its time for the forest and the 4 wheeler. Being with Family and Friends as a child will always be the best memories a person could have. As much as I care about my Bus, Family and Friends are what makes it possible to face those everyday challenges! Ian, again Thanks for putting your time and energy into this great board! Hopefully next year for Bussing we can meet the many great names and personalities from Bus Nuts. These are Two Great Countries that we all live in, we are so fortunate and have many things to be Thankful for! Have a Great Day! Pat and the Family! |

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! As I was searching for all my turkey deep frying equipment last night, I thought, what would I do if something was missing? So I searched the internet for alternative methods to cook a turkey and came up with this; Sorry I lost the link(insert thought of possibly not telling the whole truth here!) BUS MUFFLER TURKEY 1. Measure muffler access hole. 2. Go buy turkey that is smaller than hole. 3. Buy favorite Italian or Cajun dressing. 4. Stop by NAPA and pick up new 3552 primary fuel filter. 5. Soak filter in dressing 6. While filter is soaking remove water temp sensor from engine and block off hole, via shortest possibe route add enough wire to sensor to make it to 2' past muffler access hole. (note:unfinished conversions may drill straight up) 7. Empty turkey cavity and wash out, insert soaked filter and fill with rest of dressing, reattach water temp sensor to new wire and insert in center of filter, close turkey with emergency repair bailing wire. 8. Cover turkey in two layers of tin foil. 9. Wrap additional wire around outside of foil and suspend turkey just over top of muffler. 10. Close hatch. 11. Commence to drive around enjoying your bus until temperature gauge shows 180.(Note: it is suggested you drive one direction until 90 and turn around as others have a vested interest in your progress. 12. Arrive home with a perfectly cooked bird and another reason why everyone should have a Bus. God bless all of you, Happy Thanksgiving Cliff |

It's so good to see that most of us haven't gotten all rapped around the axle about being politically correct. No matter what your religious beliefs it's great to hear Cliff say, and I concur, "God bless all of you,and Happy Thanksgiving! I can't help thinking that just being a part of our little culture gives me a whole lot to be thankfull for. Oh ya, and while I'm at it, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. |

Come on bussers, where the hell are you? Are you too big to post a Thanksgiving Greeting to other fellow bus nuts? Your always the first to post on here about bus stuff so how about posting something really easy! Come on, don't be shy! There are waaay more posters on this board than what have posted here today, and by the way, today is not over yet which means you can still get your greeting in on time! So come on and put down that wrench, torch, or screwdriver and tell everyone how you feel today! NO, I do NOT mean we need to hear you feel fat because you ate too much! You KNOW what I mean! Have a GREAT Thanksgiving and the rest of the evening tonight! Ace |

The First Thanksgiving was Celebrated in Virginia Virginia's Berkeley Plantation, where English colonists first held a thanksgiving celebration, one year and 17 days prior to the landing of the Pilgrims in Massachusetts! Thirty-eight men from Berkeley Parish in England prayed thanks for their safe arrival to the New World and proclaimed Dec. 4, 1619 as a day of Thanksgiving to be celebrated every year thereafter. They Gave Thanks for their Safe Arrival in the New World The first Thanksgiving occurred when Captain John Woodlief led the newly arrived English colonists to a grassy slope along the James River and instructed them to drop to their knees and pray in thanks for a safe arrival to the New World. On this day, Dec. 4, 1619, these 38 men from Berkeley Parish in England were given the instructions: "Wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrivall at the place assigned for plantacon in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually keept holy as a day of Thanksgiving to Almighty God." This saying is now carved on a brick gazebo, where it is believed that Woodlief knelt down beside the James River. Visit Berkeley Plantation and tour the grounds, gardens and three-story manor house built in 1776. See this birthplace of Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and of his son, the ninth U.S. President William Henry Harrison. Harrison's grandson, another Benjamin Harrison, became the 23rd U.S. president. Berkeley Plantation History Highlights Berkeley stakes claim as the site of the first distillation of bourbon whiskey, produced by missionary George Thorpe, who declared it "much better than British ale." Berkeley also is the site where Union General Daniel A. Butterfield composed "Taps," which was customarily used as a "lights out" bugle call, while soldiers camped on the grounds. The Georgian mansion is believed to be the oldest 3-story brick house in Virginia that can prove its date. The house is decorated with 18th-century antiques. Berkeley became a focal point of economic, cultural and social life in colonial Virginia. It has been host to more than 10 presidents, including George Washington. http://www.virginia.org/site/features.asp?FeatureID=50 I very much agree, we have to stop being so politically correct! We need to be heard. There are more of us then there are of them. Be heard! It is not just Happy Holidays. Or Season's Greetings. We are celebrating the human birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, December 25th. Our basic freedoms that are so abused today were based on the Judeo-Christian faith. We are not to offend other faiths or the jerks that want to ban Christianity from our country. What about OUR Rights? OK, I've stopped foaming from the mouth. Happy Thanksgiving and soon, Merry CHRISTmas. GOD bless us everyone! |

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Ian. Here is the bring a bus back from Canada on Thanksgiving weekend story: A friend of mine that has sort of been following along and giving me a hand with my bus spent most of a weekend here helping me. He must have gotten the bug. Walt was the last man standing at the end of the E... bid. After asking several times about the condition of the MC9 and if it was ready to get into and drive, we took of for Canada. We arrived on a Saturday morning, the seller was not around but the bus was open. it was a 1984 9 ex Canadian Hound, with a rear cargo door. The seats and racks were removed and the floor was covered with plywood. It looked as good or better than the pictures showed. Pushed the button and it fired right up, sounded good too... The owner showed up about 10 min. after we had it running. We started to check lights, fluids ect. The plan was to head right back down the road, 800 miles to Delaware. Walt settled up on his new project and the seller left. In preparation for this trip Walt got insurance, a letter from MCI stating the bus would meet US DOT standards and a 15 day temp tag. We started down the road and about 3 miles into the trip, Walt flashed his lights. 797 miles to go. On the side of the road, smoke coming out of the rear right brake, we limped to a Walmart parking lot. There were 2 tow trucks in the parking lot at a fast food place. After talking with them, we learned that nobody was open because it was Thanksgiving weekend. Stuck in Canada until Tuesday. All the best plans... About an hour after we left a message on the sellers phone, he showed up in the parking lot. He got in touch with the garage where the the bus was parked and the owner was about an hour out, on his way home from work. Walt limped the 3 miles back to the garage wondering what in the hell he had gotten himself into. It was 6:00 PM when the mechanic(who is really a welder) got there. The seller was a real stand up guy, he told Walt that whatever it was, was on him because he had said the bus was road worthy. Opened up the shop and backed in. The problem with the brakes was really minor, rust on the S cam rollers. However minor it was, it never would have made the ride back to Delaware. After fixing one side, we decided to check and lube the other side. While it was jacked up and the tires were off, they replaced a leaking air bag too. At 11:30 PM we went to a motel for the night. 5:00 AM, Sunday morning the bus was sitting outside the gates. Pushed the button, it fired right up, sounded good too... (I remember that from somewhere) and we headed down the road. The border crossing was one of the easiest things that I have ever done, for real. Made it home with out a problem. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. Hope to see you at Jacks next month. Bruce |
