Sorry for this long winded listing but I had a good friend email it to me and I thoutht it importain enought to shair this with other friend's I met here and at the convention. For those of you who feel me wrong for placing this here well I'm sorry and rairly do this sort of thing. I left this here in the newbie board to at least leave this out of the more specialized boards. This Says it all! Broken Arrow, Oklahoma School officials remove "God Bless America" signs from schools in fear that someone might be offended. Channel 12 News in Long Island, New York, orders flags removed from the newsroom and red, white, and blue ribbons removed from the lapels of reporters. Why? Management did not want to appear biased and felt that our nations flag might give the appearance that "they lean one way or another". Berkeley, California bans U.S. Flags from being displayed on city fire trucks because they didn't want to offend anyone in the community. In an "act of tolerance" the head of the public library at Florida Gulf Coast University ordered all "Proud to be an American" signs removed so as to not offend international students. I, for one, am quite disturbed by these actions of so-called American citizens; and I am tired of this nation worrying about whether or not we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled in New York and Washington D.C. when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. In fact, our country's population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants; however, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently ;some native Americans, need to understand. First of all, it is not our responsibility to continually try not to offend you in any way. This idea of America being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language, and our own lifestyle. This culture, called the "American Way" has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. Our forefathers fought, bled, and died at places such as Bunker Hill, Antietam, San Juan, Iwo Jima, Normandy, Korea, Vietnam, We speak English, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society - learn our language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some off-the-wall, Christian, Right Wing, political slogan - it is our national motto. It is engraved in stone in the House of Representatives in our Capitol and it is printed on our currency. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation; and this is clearly documented throughout our history. If it is appropriate for our motto to be inscribed in the halls of our highest level of Government, then it is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. God is in our pledge, our National Anthem, nearly every patriotic song, and in our founding documents. We honor His birth, death, and resurrection as holidays, and we turn to Him in prayer in times of crisis, but we do not force you to worship our God: You are free not to; which is probably not true if you are an immigrant. Worship your own God. If the concept of God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture and we are proud to have Him. We are proud of our heritage and those who have so honorably defended our freedoms. We celebrate Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Flag Day. We have parades, picnics, and barbecues where we proudly wave our flag. As an American, I have the right to wave my flag, sing my national anthem, quote my national motto, and cite my pledge whenever and wherever I choose. If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. The American culture is our way of life, our heritage, and we are proud of it. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. We are Americans, like it or not, this is our country, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion about our government, culture, or society, and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, the right to leave. Barry Loudermilk If you agree, pass this onto other Americans!! It is time to take a stand!! |

I pledge allegiance to the people of the WORLD and to the freedom for which they deserve One world under God with liberty and justice for ALL. "Almighty God Hath created the mind free. All attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burdens are the departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion. God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are a gift of God?" Do you know who the author is and when these words were written? Here is what God, the one that you speak of and is in all your little songs, has to say about liberty (freedom). ... proclaim liberty throughout the land, and unto ALL INHABITANTS thereof.... "For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." "...it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity..." "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Furthermore I may just speak for myself when I say, if this is such a great country and the english language is so important to you, why can't you write properly or spell correctly? Lets keep your southpark propaganda where it belongs, not here. Maybe you can get a free spot on some other flag waiving American Broadcast Company. Free speech in America these days will run you about $3.5 million US for about 30 seconds on any program that has any viewers. And remember in your new america opposing view points are gagged by the flag. So, may God bless the people of the world while america and all nations of lands near and far wither into the darkness from which they were created. Pardon me while I go burn my flag in an attempt to keep my brothers warm and alive. |

Jeff: I do pledge allegiance to my COUNTRY. The one I have served, and continue to serve, faithfully. All the "people of the world" don't share this countries believe in Liberty and Freedom. They'd rather stifle and oppress their people, or “influence them by temporal punishments or burdens”, rather than allow them to live free as God had intended. Although God may have given us life and liberties as “a gift”, it is our responsibility to respect, maintain and secure those liberties -- allow no one to take them away. Interesting quotes Jeff and no, I don’t know who wrote them. Clearly I am not as enlightened as you are, it was all I could do to spell correctly, write and speak the English language properly. Unless I am missing something here, It appears that you have contempt for this country (note I won’t call it “your” country). I have never understood why anyone, or any group of people, who dislike the United States of America, its values and way of life, yet choose to continue to live here. Why not leave? And as far as burning our flag, wasn’t that in fashion some 30 years ago and of course in countries that despise the USA? I apologize to other board viewers for responding to you. I wish the various bus boards would stick to bus related topics. I get a bit ticked when I perceive posts with dislike of our Nation. Like you, I’ll remain anonymous. |

"I have never understood why anyone, or any group of people, who dislike the United States of America, its values and way of life, yet choose to continue to live here. Why not leave? " And go where? As far as I'm concerned, this is the greatest country in the world, but it isn't perfect. I'd rather stay here and use the freedoms we have to move us closer to perfection. I have no problem with those who want to openly protest except that they rarely offer solutions to the problem they are griping about. Actually, I don't worry much about the flag burners and complainers. I worry much more about the right wing Christians who somehow feel that their version of God should be applied to all of us. I really see them as having no real difference from the Islamic extremists that are currently forcing their views on all of Afghanistan's people and would like to convert the entire world to their brand of Islam. There isn't a really long distance between bin Laden and Jerry Falwell. Jerry hasn't blown up any buildings, but he would gladly control and destroy the lives of those who don't follow his version of Christianity. I believe in "one nation, under God", but you are free to define that god as you see fit. I won't try to force mine on you, please do me the same courtesy. Thanks -- Don |

Like me you'll remain anonymous? Apparently you don't quite have a handle on that english language either, my full name is at the top of my post for all to see. Unlike you and your president I am not cowardly and I stand for honesty and integrity and will not hide from God or you to please anyone and cannot be bought or sold, especially not with an overpriced potato prepared by a clown in the midst of starving people. Maybe you should spend less time with the clowns eating greasy potatoes while watching television and a little more time with this God everyone likes to refer to lately. God's blessing is not a right but a gift, read your Bible and maybe the Constitution while your at it. And then maybe you'll know who said what, when and why and to whom, because yes, apparently you are missing something here. Furthermore this is the internet not the American net. So yes I agree that apologies are in order especially to the people who have been bombarded with your American supremacy propaganda. And yes this is a bus board that I read every day and as an American am exercising my right and not selling my rights to the lowest bidder. The Constitution of the COUNTRY that I live in specifically includes all who want to be included not just the ones currently on the soil. Maybe you've heard this one? This land is your land this land is my land this land belongs to you and me? Well I ask you friend Who are you and who am I (me)? And Don who is this God you pray to it sounds a lot to me like the one I know and love but yes you are "bought with a price" the price is to be Christ Like and you cannot tell me that Jesus would be going to Afghanistan in an F15 or armed with anything other than life and love for ALL MANKIND If you believe the Book, how? or more importantly WHY would someone who really does posses not just the power of the world but power that we could yet understand allow himself to be crucified in the manner that he was while begging his father forgiveness for the people who so carried out the crucifixion " forgive them father for they know not what they do" when he could have just as easily brought great fires or rains even diseases or plagues upon them in an instant so indeed you would need to include George Bush along with the rest of your Elmer Fuddian right Wingers . Further more the majority of american cannot afford to fly the friendly skies they can only pay for there incompetence. We can go at this for years. So in short the reason I don't leave is that I do believe in God and its the same God that the men who wrote the constitution believed in and I do believe that all men were created equal so as Nathan Hale has said before he was hanged, "The only regret that I have is that I have but one life to lose for my country." so I'm saving mine for YOU for when YOU really need it. It would be a shame if anyone has lost their lives for frenchfries, airlines, oil, a shopping spree or any other kind of worthless garbage. You want a good Idea before someone gives someone support maybe they should investigate what they are supporting. As well we should let things happen the way they are going to in the business world as well because by you agreeing with georgie boy you are indeed forcing your views and beliefs on me while taking the food off my family's table and the clothes off their backs at the same time. I have never seen such a blatantly bad job performed by so many people so called "intelligence" who are getting raises and more money to botch things up even more, they couldn't do it right the first time I don't believe they will do right it now. You have a right not to worship the same God as I or anyone else I should have the same right to choose whether or not to do business someone or support them in their failings. Or is it that because everyone else is doing it I must as well. My pursuit of happiness which is my american right is simple, unfortunately these days they're deemed as very un-American because it does not include the exploitation or oppression of my fellow man in any way or spending money on more overpriced unnecessary garbage. |

I@n, I think we have had enough of this crap on this board, don't you? No one will win this discussion as all of us have the right to our own opinions, no matter how whacky they may be. Are we sure that Jeffrey is not related to our over zealous religious nut who condemned people for parking their bus outside their girlfriend's house a few months back? Sure looks like the same style to me. Lots of quotes of nothing but argumentative sentences, designed to inflame and not go anywhere. Ian, ENOUGH, please stop this now, thank you. Peter. |

Jeffrey R. Yeaw: First … I say “anonymous” of you because you elected NOT to leave an email. Had you ... I would have spared the board. Mine is hankins20@home.com should you chose to spare those on this bus board and respond directly to me ... to enlighten and educate me. I again do apologize to the board for responding to you. Further, you who are so quick to point out other people’s incorrect spelling, grammar, etc., also are human. [You wrote:] {God's blessing is not a right but a gift, read your Bible and maybe the Constitution while your at it.} try “you’re” {Further more the majority of american cannot afford to fly the friendly skies they can only pay for there incompetence.} try “American” and “their” not “there” [End] Jeff, I don’t know you and you don’t know me. We simply have vastly different opinions – something that makes this nation great … we CAN have different opinions. Just because someone doesn’t posses your great worldly knowledge doesn’t make them a TV watching couch potato. We are all human … try not to be so judgmental. Save the soapbox for another board -- give it a rest. Let’s return to talking buses. This message will self destruct in 10 seconds. Thank you, Jerry Hankins20@home.com PS: Sorry madbrit |
