Hi Mark I don't know if I can help you but it seems no one wants to answer you. What type of problem do you have? Tim |

I am not shure what the oil cooler is like on the 8V71 but I would say its not far off from the in line 671 that I am familiar with. If your engine is running good and you are not seeing an abnormal amount of exhaust smoke it may be that the oil cooler has a leak in its core. What is the back ground of your experience with the bus. Has it run good so far, were you on a very hard pull and then this occurred. Or did you just notice this and it may have been this way from the start of your trip? Tim |

Mark, when you were running up hill, did you see a big cloud of white smoke? If so, you probably split a head. 6V92 seem to have that problem if they are overheated. One of my customers told me about a great two stroke mechanic in KY (I think Louisville or Lexington). If you still need help, let me know via reply to this thread, email or phone and I will contact him to find the name and number. Hi Mark We are only about 5 hrs. north of you in South Whitley, In. Don't know of anyone in this area, but I know several people who say Terry Bennett in Tn. is really good with 2 cycle Detroits. He is located north of Interstate 24 about 1 hr. from Nashville. I know thats a ways to tow your bus, but somrtimes a tow bill is cheaper than being overcharged for work that may not even need done. I understand Terry is a busnut that used to belong to the Southeast Cruisers?? I have talked to him on the phone and he has been very helpful. Can't hurt to call him at 931-815-3080. Sorry, but he's the closest one I know in the area. |
