I have owned a 4104 so this is not exactly my first rodeo...We are looking at an Eagle 10 conversion that looks very nice and for the most part has what we need in it. I went to look at the bus today and drove it. The only things that I noticed were: rust-thru on square tubing that holds the small outer skin behind the passenger side front wheel, the steering seemed to have some play(maybe a quarter turn), and it smoked for a while until it got good and warmed up down the road. My concerns/questions are the following:
1) Does anyone on the board know of someone in the Nashville area that can do a honest pre-purchase checkout of the bus?
2) Other than that one rust spot, all of the other visible tubing around the wheel wells seemed to be solid and still had rustproofing on them, so how can I be reasonably sure that I'm not buying a problem like some of the horror stories I have read on this and other forums?
3) I know value is a tough subject because there is so many things that go into it, but is there any wisdom other than looking at prices of similar coaches? How much markup do dealers/consigners usually have?

Brent,

Joe sent me a check list a while back of things to look for, but I can't seem to find it. If Joe is reading the boards, he may write you.

One of the things he did suggest was to check the access doors on the drivers side front, by the drivers side window. If you see rust in there, it's not a good sign. I just recently looked an eagle over and found a lot of rust. If you look down the sides of the bus, are the rivets wavey? or do they have a straight gig line? If you check the rivets along the sides, are they loose or pulling away from the frame? Look in the fuel door, is there rust in there? When you walk on the floor inside, do you feel any weakness?

These are a few things that I know. I highly suggest that you talk to the Eagle busnuts at yahoo groups. That can be a great source of information.
