FF: I just read that you have mounted a garbage disposal. Saves trips to dumpster for shrimp, etc. How safe is this for the gray tank? Will it still drain? Will solids compact? I am interested as I have not heard of this before. |

I had a garbage disposal mounted in DML and it worked great. I really do not think there are any solids left. Once it is mixed up with the water during shredding of any material. I never had any trouble in 15 years. Richard |

Hi Deb I am planning a garbage disposer in my coach after having one in my 88 Newell coach for 5 years with no problems. There was never a solids issue in the one (gray/black) tank in the Newell either. Rob |

Compacting might be a problem IF the grey tank were HUGE and only dumped every few months. But most folks set up a bypass system to constantly dump grey while in a campground & have city water aboard. We prefer Selected fresh water , so have only a 52 gal fresh & 52 gal combined grey & black tank. Works fine for about a week , when we hope to find a dumpsite , and a good tasty FW supply. Never had a clog situation yet , but we use the better Dupree waste valves , that won't jam. FAST FRED |

We use a garbage disposal. The grey tank can get pretty stinky with food. Make sure you vent properly. Dug 75 MC8 Arcadia, Fl |
