Has anyone replaced an airbag on a Neoplan? I have found that all my bags were replaced with Firestone bags except one, it is old and has cracks in it. While it does not leak if the bus is on level ground, if the front wheel it is on is lower than the others it begins to leak around the top of the bag. I read the manual but it is not terribly clear. It seems to me that if I were to fully inflate the bag, block up the suspension under that wheel and relaese the air in the bag, I could remove it and replace it with the wheel still on. Has anyone doen this? Can anyone offer advice from experience on a Neoplan? 1985 Cityliner front pass side bag. Chris |

My '81 Skyliner has the same design bags. I'm replacing all the bags and Firestone bags were the easiest to find. My bus is currently totally stripped, but I did change one bag to get it home. I raised the coach, blocked it and removed the bag and floating piston. That piston is aluminum and should come off with a big rubber mallet and utility knife. That's one of the faults with their design, it's easy to have a bag pop off, ask Sean. Anyway, I am 90% sure the wheel will have to be off for clearance. The hard part is properly sealing the bag on the floating piston and then back onto the fixed piston under the frame - use air. Next time I'm going to try rubber lube, works great for seating tires. |
