I HAVE A GMC4106 IT HAS BEEN SETTING FOR A LONG TIME I HAVE RECENTLY STARTED AND I AM GETTING ALOT OF WHITE SMOKE IF YOU BY THE ENGINE THE SMOKE WILL BURN YOUR EYE'S IS IT RUNNING TO LEAN AND IS THERE SOME KIND OF ADJUSTMENT |

grey-white smoke is usually unburned diesel, if one or more cylinders does not create sufficient compression to cause the fuel to burn it blows out as white to light grey smoke. Sometimes as the engine heats up this condition will stop. a compression or cylinder pressure test will tell you if you have one or more bad cylinders |

Take the old girl out for a spin. She is telling you that you need to pay her some attention. ( my wife reminds of that). Not uncommon for some rings to stick after sitting for a time. Run her for 30 minutes or so at highway speed and she might forgive you ! What part of the country are you in? In a warm climate, this is less likely than a colder climate. She might like to have an oil change as well ( like flowers to your wife).

The usual reason for this smoking is cylinder wall rusting.
The rust spots chew up the rings , and the pin holes from the rust hold extra oil , that smokes when it burns.
Sometimes a few thousand miles will cure the start up smoke.
If it still smokes white after a few hours run , its low compression , so time for an $895.00 set of cylinders and pistons with an inframe O'haul kit.
Smoke on cold start up can be ignored , if it goes away when the engine temp normalizes.
The start smoke does show some engine wear, but you still could have100,000 or 150,000 to go before inframe.
DD love to smoke AND drip oil!!
