I noticed my air bags have a date on them. They look in good shape with no visable cracks on the rubber. How many years should they go before they get replaced? I have an 85 Prevost and the bags are dated 1990. |

I had to replace air bags on my Prevost when they were about 10 years old, but the problem was corrosion in the steel base and not the rubber portion. At the time the bus was run in the snow belt of western NY. |

Air bags are supposed to be replaced when they develop cracks, if your pass a visual inspection and don't leak at the seals then they are still good. I haven't heard of any time line on replacement, just a visual inspection. --Geoff '82 RTS AZ |

Don The air bags on my GMC are dated 1983 and while there is small cracks in them they do not leak. I will probably replace them soon as I think I'm living on borrowed time. I have a complete set, just need the time to do the job. Bill |
