I was driving my bus down a back road in tenn. out of the corner of my eye I noticed a sign that I was not shure of what it said 11'6 or 12'6 not paying much attention as I rounded the turn I realized it must have said 11'6" . as I slowly eased towards it to see if I could posibly squeeze under I see a guy in his truck coming the oposite way shaking his head no. I go to put it in reverse and my selinoid won't work. each time I let out the clutch to see if it's in reverse I ease a little closer to the bridge that I'm already too close to. Traffic is now backed up in both directions. so I have the guy in the truck come and manualy operate the selinoid so I can get her in reverse. he then directs me back around the curve so I can turn around in a small park. Just another adventure on my last venture in the old 4905. Can't wait to get rid of her and start driving the new one.

You're gonna' be in for a helluva surprise trying to go through
an overpass marked 11'6" with that MCI.... Make sure you
have a recorder on your back-up camera, so you can locate
the pieces....

Hey Ron and other GM owners. After the third time our solonoid would not engage, i made a u shaped tool from wood to fit the slot. With the solonoid pulled out manually, I'd slide the tool in and run back and back it up. Safer than having somone else hold it in, and its better for you to get all greasy than someone else, and sometimes there aint someone else. (And Ron, its probably to late, your coach knows shes been replaced, ya gotta talk nice about her!! Woman scorned etc...)

You know Ron they all have inherent problems and as you drive the MCI you will no doubt find its problems. Learn and fix. Its been my entire life. Tim

If you have MS Streets, the "low clearance" "est" file can be downloaded here:
http://www.dialup4less.com/~aabn/maps-GPS/Low%20clearance.est

If you open the file in a text editor, you can add to it, using the
same context and format.

Zip codes, street addresses, or lat/long is perfectly acceptable.

Have fun; stay sober.

Oops! If you want the file to modify, you'll need this one:
http://www.dialup4less.com/~aabn/maps-GPS/LowClearances2.txt
(copy and save as a text file)

That "est" file was what you'll get when you have MS Streets
add the data, and you save it to a map file!

Thats why they have a TRUCK ROUTE that takes folks arround towns. UGH!!!

For sightseeing the early coaches that are only 10ft tall work better ,
but then you can't do chinups in the salon.

Coach driving is 3 dimensional:

allowing the two horizontally oriented planes to consume all available attention will inevitably allow the vertical one to make itself dramatically known!

Roadside signs are there for th' readin'.

Good on you, captain ron, and thanks for sharing!

happy coaching!

FWIW, I live 10 miles South of Murfreesboro (although today I'm writing this from Central NY). For at least ten years in the 90's I was chief engineer at a boat company that is about 5 miles further north on this VERY ROAD. This is not a main route that has to be taken. It does go to a civil war battlefield, but there are several options that can be taken to avoid this "underpass - and yes it it under as the road is depressed and routinely floods". We shipped trucks at 13'6" daily and had incoming trucks everyday on this very road, they went the other way - it's also posted and as Ron mentioned he just missed the signs. It happens!
Just wanted to mention this so that those of US that have taller rigs don't loose sleep thinking that we can't drive anywhere.
