I'm kinda 'cheap' and don't want to spend thousands of dollars to get my bus painted but it sure needs something. I've painted one car and two pickups so I'm thinking why not paint the bus. The price of automotive paints is shocking. Are there alternatives that are a bit more reasonable? On my last trip to Lowes I noticed Rust Oleum marine paints for about $10.00 per quart. Has anyone tried them? Regards Jerry 4107 1120 |

The dramatic rise in paint costs has spawned a new batch of dealers, discount auto paints! They sort of mix their own in huge quantities I guess. I and friends have painted several buses with their paint, it is just as good as the high priced spread, at a fraction of the cost. I opted to use acrylic enamel with hardener, with a turbine air fed true hvlp gun, so the paint all went on the bus and not all over everything else. Seems like paint was around $40 a gallon, I will send you photos of the results if you wish. Getting old, I had two RV's painted, one just a month ago, and the clear coat alone was over $400 a gallon! Beautiful, but very costly. |

A friend of mine here in East Tennessee has opened a bus painting business. He used to do Prevosts in Nashville and awesome murals. You could call and ask him about a low buck paint , with no murals. His name is Ron 931-260-9415 and tell him morgan sent you. |

Check out PPG,I believe its their Del-fleet system. The rep. I deal with here is a retired painter, and has used lots of products. For commercial units he prefers this paint. Coverage is one coat with a cross coat. Far cheaper than Imron and just as durable. Try to save money! But being too "cheap" will be regretful. |
