As a result of some great suggestions, I would like to hire a mechanic in the Portland area to check out the 'worthiness' of the bus I have found for sale. The bus is an early 80's mc9 Just out of service from a company. Would anyone here have a suggestion as to who to call for this? THANKS! Mark |

Southern Oregon Diesel in Roseburg are folks you can't go wrong with. They are extremely knowledgeable, and very honest. 541-672-7400 |

Visitor, www.southernoregondiesel.com for some additional information. Like many on this board, I know David Gregory personally and know him to be our hobby's best friend on the west coast. Ian www.busnut.com |

Thanks Jim, Ian, Yes, Davids reputation is outstanding, and I,ve had the priveledge to meet him a couple of times at "BUSIN USA" in Rickreal, OR. Problem is, the bus is not in my posession (not yet anyway) and Southern Oregon Diesel is about 2 1/2 hours south of Portland. I need a mechanic to do an on site evaluation, or get the permisson of the bus owner to take it to a bus shop. Any other Ideas? I used to have a directory of bus mechanics all over the US, but can't find it at the moment. Any DD MCI bus knowledgeable people IN Portland? Thanks again Mark |

Call David at Southern Oregon diesel. He can give you names of people to call. I think he knows someone at Raz Transportation that may be able to help you (I think that they are on 99W NE of Washington Square). Raz runs a large MCI fleet. If not he will know someone else. A member of this board highly reccoments Hillsboro Diesel if your bus is to the west side. At any rate Call David Gregory at SOD and he will get you started. Craig - MC7 Oregon |

Well, if they'll let you, a drive down to Roseburg would also give you an idea how the bus is running. I don't know any others in the Portland area, but I bet David would tell you if you were to ask. |

Tell the guy that you may need the bus overnight, to take it to SOD for a complete going over. Offer to fill the tank when you return it, and that you'll have the oil and filter changed while you're there. It'd be better to spend a few hundred getting it inspected, than many thousands later, when you're replacing things you never knew existed. |

Mark, Southern Oregon Diesel can be very busy, better get an appointment. Also, Bill Chisholm, on this board as billybandman, knows lots about busses and knows lots of the RAZ folks and may be able to get you set up with them. I'm the fan of Hillsboro Diesel but my experience with them only involves engine evaluation and repair. Regards Jerry 4107 1120 |

DHS Diesel in Portland is a place to look into. They have a mechanic who's long experienced with two strokes. Sorry I did not bring info home with me. |
