Uh.. Oh...

What kind of door is it?

If its off another MCI you have two choices.
get the hinges and try to mount it using the factory hinges providing the anchor points are inside the dashboard next to the door. The right side mirror bracket mounting base is directly behind the original factory header.

Or find a Nice Stainless Piano hinge, Do some sheetmetal and rivet work and install it that way. That's what I did and it works Ok...

This is something that has been done by several members of the njtbusnuts group on yahoo and I'm sure they can help you with all needed mods.

While you're at it, consider making provisions for mounting an interior security door - a "real" security door, not those ersatz, lightweight phony looking screen doors.

Really helps the interior air flow, leaving the regular door open and still maintaining the security of a locked door.

Marc,

I am sure that if you could design a screen door even the security type that would work with the existing MCI doors you would get a dozen gold stars! I have thought about it and wished there was such a beast that I would probably buy one myself if it worked.

You have to make it work like a bug zapper! It's not difficult
to use a common ignition coil to provide the voltage to knock
the unsuspecting unwanted visitor on his rear end.

(just tell Mama, so she doesn't get zapped when she comes back
from that ice cream social. Man, that's celibacy in an instant!)

IF I could?

I personally fabricated one for my Dad's Prevost as a "birthday present"!

But he had a conversion by Executive Coach of Fox River, (Il.?) like Steve Fesseden's. It was a (mid)-side door entry.

Getting it mosquito proof, especialy with previously converted coaches is problematical.

I guess I should fabricate a kit for a front door MCI-9, except I would have to work out and deal with visibility issues depending on mirror placement and inside access to the outside door latch.

I was originally interested in constructing one out of SS but with the expansion of powder-coating availablity . . . ?

With the CNC I can personalize each door with "engravng" from initials all the way to coat of arms (you bring the G-code-I don't consider myself an "art" artist).

Soon as I get the engine re-installed and I back the 81 into the shop for the roof raise, I'll look into a forward door design.

To John MC9 (formerly TNG),

Are you bucking for a return to TNG appelation? While I totally agree with the sentiment, those shock traps are a lawsuit waiting to happen. If it involved a pacemaker user, it might be a criminal prosecution.

Hi Marc
Why don't you ever put your E Mail address on your post. I would have ask questions off board several times but can't.

Not Too shabby :-)

A little tweak here and there and that would work.
