Does anyone have a list or table of the different types/numbers of Injectors that one can put into an 8V71. I'm looking for a list that gives infor on what each different type/number Injector does for the engine? Thanks. mrbill4108A |

Hi There The first reply did not go through so here goes again. Not sure what you are looking for ?? The letter C in the number signafies a Crown type injector and the letter N signafies a Needle type injector. The N injector is suppose to be the better injector With the 65 injector you need to advance the valve timing so the engine cam handle that much fuel The number indicates the amount of fuel delivered. Most injectors I have seen in Buses are like 71c5, c55, c60 c65 or the same with the letter N instead of the letter C. If my memory serves me correctly (that would be a first) The 8v71 with the 55 injector has like 250 H.P. with the 60 like 270 H.P. with the 65 318 H.P.(with advanced timing) |

Yes, thats kind of what I was wanting to know. What I was hoping for is a chart that would list all the diiferent injectors and what HP you might get. You know something that I can look at to see what the difference a c65 or n70 injector would do. I would think there would be a chart somewhere out there but so far I havn't found it. Thanks for the info, |

the biggest injector recomended for the 8v71 is the 65 318 H.P. max for the 8v71, that is if you want it to last for a while... The Service Manual has Injector sizes in the tuneup section, but that book is like 3" thick, you could go to your nearest DD dealer and ask to see the book.. |

I was just looking thru my 8v71 highway service manual. The Tune Up section has got lots of tables. . . where do I begin. . . For example one table labeled '1980 Certified Automotive Engines' has some info you may want: 8V-71N (Coach #) --------- Inj: 7E50 Rated BHP: 230 @ 2100 Inj: 7E55 Rated BHP: 250 @ 2100 Inj: 7E60 Rated BHP: 270 @ 2100 ********************* 8V-71N --------- Inj: 7E50 Rated BHP: 245 @ 2100 Inj: 7E55 Rated BHP: 265 @ 2100 Inj: 7E60 Rated BHP: 280 @ 2100 Inj: 7E65 Rated BHP: 304 @ 2100 Obviously, I had to do some rearranging in an attempt to display a chart in a BB post, but you get the idea. I don't know why the injectors are labeled 7E rather than N. Also, there are lots of other charts with more info I don't even pretend to understand. I hope this might help! Scott |

65E are the way to go IF!!!! you are going to have the engine out so you can pull the flywheel housing off and change it to advance timing. If you are having this done big money. advanages: more horsepower, runs cleaner I did this last spring amazing how much less carbon on my tow vehical. Disadvanages: lower miles per gallon. any time you increase hp you decrease engine life, for most people this is not a problem we don't put enough miles on our coach. also with more HP you develop more heat make sure your radiator is in good condition. For me it was worth it, but I did the work. You have to decide for yor self |
