Oh.. This is really just another "Arlen Specter" act on the horizon. Who elected this guy?

"Whoever...utilizes any device or software that can be used to originate telecommunications or other types of communications that are transmitted, in whole or in part, by the Internet... without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person...who receives the communications...shall be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

This is such a load of you know what!

I guess we should clean up our act huh?:-)

At least it meets Constitutional muster.

So, if you anonymously e-mail your distinguished comgressional representative or senator to complain about his or her stupid antics - its off to the slammer you go!?

His or her activities (including the taking of bribes and kickbacks from such as Jack Abramoff) can annoy you, but you'd best be very carefull how you complain about it.

By the way, I noticed that if you remove the Abram from the man's name, you are left with his true identity.

David, and your objection is what? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If you got something to say to someone say it but own up to it.

I think it would help with SPAM also. I am now getting lots of e-mails without identity or subject in the header. We need to hang the bozo's that clog up the web.

Yeah.... well... You would have to prove they intended
to "annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass" you. The spammer
didn't intend to do that, they intended to sell you something.

I would hate to see any more "legislation" passed, since all any
"legislation" does, is limit freedom. My spam filters, and the filter
our ISP have, do well. I don't need more gubberment intrusion.

Uh... Where did that come from?

"David, and your objection is what? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If you got something to say to someone say it but own up to it."

I wasn't trying to say anything per-se. I just thought it is just another one of those "laws" that get put on the books by underhanded means.

Laws are for people that are law abiding. The jerks, scam artists and bad guys will flaunt it just like the spammers do.

Just so you know, My IP address is a Fixed One and I am findable that way and also as a registered poster with a real name. I do not hide and have no need to.

I am fine, How are you? :-)

David,

I didn't mean to imply you. I was using that as a general statement to anybody that has something to say but doesn't have the wherewithall to stand behind what they say. There is a lot of difference between a spammer and someone who is using the anonymity of the internet to target an individual with emails that "annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass...".

What I'm waiting for is a law about the clowns that send a virus.

My solution ,

a week in jail at hard labor for EACH computer affected.

The French economy is dieing , unemployment at 11% ,

so perhaps they should reopen DEVILS ISLAND,
to increase employment , and handle the virus folks.

Works for me!
