Hi folks,

Well, aren't we just the chatty ones!! The bandwidth transfer amount for this web site is normally 20 gig. I don't know how to put that into perspective in layman's terms except to say that's an incredible amount of space in terms of bits & bytes.

In the history of this web site, our bandwidth has never been exceeded. That includes the "good old days" when the chat room was full of 18 people at a time... yes, 18 - anyone remember those nights in the chat room?

We normally receive an email when our bandwidth gets to about 80% of capacity and I received that email last week, so, naturally, I contacted my ISP and asked for an increase. They happily complied and emailed me back saying they had increased the bandwidth threefold.

Well, what they said and what happened were not the same thing and we all got the message overnight - "Bandwidth Exceeded".

But not to worry, in fact we do now have exactly 60 gig of bandwidth to play with and, if my calculations are correct, this shouldn't happen again until the year 2030.

Keep your fingers crossed folks! After all, we're dealing with the Internet here, where anything can happen... and usually does.

Welcome back. Enjoy :~)

(Thank you to those site watchers out there who were kind enough to report the situation to me via email.)

As bad as my dialup is, plus I've had modem problems myself.......three modems later and I find a broken wire in the connector.......I hate when things aren't completely broken! Dialup is bad enough, I may have to upgrade to satellite connection..........thanks Ian, this is really a great site, now I can have my coffee in peace!

Pat:-)
