If you like two stroke diesels, here is one to look at. Probably need a heavier driveline in a bus to handle the 5,608,312 foot lbs of torque! Vibration should not be a problem though, it develops that torque at the breakneck speed of 102 rpm! http://www.bath.ac.uk/~ccsshb/12cyl/ |

Wow, Big Don. I'd seen the exterior, but not the internals before. I used to work for a place that made what I thought was huge Marine Gearing, but nothing that would hook up to this. BTW, I'm glad you're posting again these days now that you've graduated to real boots.

Wow what an engine, I guess if someone were to build a coach "large enough" to use one of these babys it would be a real "land yacht" huh? Busted Knuckle |

Yeah, I ran one of those in a 4104 I bought from Trailways years ago. Great power, just a little bit thirsty. I had three 13 speed trannies hooked up in line to maximize the low torque curve. It could really pull I tell ya. My first trip I went up the Grapevine in 39th at Eleven RPM, at about 155 mph. One time I went to one of those motorcycle hill climbs in North Carolina and just for a joke entered it in the Unlimited Class. (Weight was a consideration) I pulled the hill with no trouble. But I mean Literally Pulled the Hill. Everybody got PO’d because they had to cancel the race. I was shooting rooster tails for 4 miles, and took out a couple of low flying Cessnas. I finally ended up selling it to some Greek guy who hauled fuel, but that's another story. Yeah, those were good times. pat Young fresno |
