A while back I had a gasket blow in the flange coming out of the air compressor. It was leaking bad and had some oil coming out of the leak. I fixed the gasket.
Now the air takes a long time to build up and goes down very quickly, can't hear the air leak out. When oil comes from the compressor does this mean the compressor is shot? The 4905 seemed to be slow building up but always held up until now. Anyone got any Ideas?

If oil is coming out of the compressor into the wet tank you have a bad compressor. That is probably why it takes a long time to build up-- low compression from worn rings. But you also must have a few air leaks and mayby a bad check valve so the air pressure won't stay up.

Also whens the last time the oil tanks (ooppps I mean air) drained? It does make a differance! |

OOPS didn't think of the tanks I think I know on the 4905, there is one over the chassis batteries is there more than one. I haven't hooked outside air to it but been around and thru, haven't heard any.
Thanks Bryce and Geoff. One big mistake havenk't taken care of the tanks. Please let me know if there is more than one tank.

Larry, I can't tell you for sure on the 4905, but most coaches will have a least 3 tanks and I've seen as many as 6 depending on who the manufacture was and the age! Usually one around the rear end for the rear brakes, and also 1 or two in the front! Like I said I can't tell ya for sure on yer bus as I don't have any prior experince with 1 but I believe that there should be at least 3 in almost all systems, but I could be wrong and there could be a rare system out there!
