We would like to share with you our bus experience over the weekend or as my wife Michele puts it her cheap vacation. As previously mentioned we purchased a second 4106 with intentions of using it as a parts donor. We left Atlanta Friday afternoon and arrive in Eutawville SC around 9pm that night, upon arriving we installed the batteries and checked into a hotel. Early the next morning we prepared the bus for starting, changing filters, oil, fluids, etc. We expected the bus to start as promised but she didn’t. After a couple of phone calls to fellow bus nuts we were able to isolate the problem as an electrical one. After poking around for 4 hours I accidentally engage the correct relay in the rear electrical panel and she roared to life after sitting for over two years. We drove it over to a near by service station to add additional diesel and change a headlight. The drive home was eventless, I found the steering to be annoying and over responsive, I had a difficult time maintaining the center of the lane, for some reason I was always on the white line to my right. We lost the glass from the door. However, Michele who was following in the car was able to make a u-turn and recovered the glass, which fortunately was still intact. Over all the bus ran great, it didn’t smoke as a matter of fact I enjoy driving it more than our first bus. It shifted great with plenty of power to spare. A couple of times I could have sworn I felt heat blowing around my left knee, but it didn’t last too. We are not sure what to do with this bus yet; we might keep it or end up selling. We uploaded a few pics of the adventure. We took the back roads most of the way enjoying Georgia's country roads. In one pic you will notice Lake Oconee in the background where we took a break. pics ---> http://www.geocities.com/buswrap411/SecondBus/index.html Mark & Michele |

Nice looking bus for a parts bus. I thinkk Michele needs her own bus to decorate as she wants. |

Mark, Three of the exact same things happened to me driving my 4104 home from VA TO AR after sitting a year. The steering drove me crazy, still does. My glass almost fell out in WY on our first trip but my wife saw it moving and I stopped in time. The heat from the front I at first didn't know how to stop. This was in August no less. I finally stopped long enough to read the driver's manual and read to shut off the heater line valves at the engine firewall. It felt like AC after that!! |

Mark first off thanks for posting your adventure with pictures. Its always good reading when a fellow bus nut brings home a new bus. The new bus really does look to good to part out. Well its only number two so you got plenty of time to decide what to do with it. I now have seven and have to decide very soon what it is exactly that I plan on doing! Nice buses Mark best of luck. To check the steering , block up the bus under the front axle. Have someone wiggle the wheel and you look for loose motion. Grease will help a lot , and the spline that alows for the bus chasis to move in relation to the body should be the first thing to look at. LUKE at US Coach has em' in stock. IF all is well the toe in is probably set wrong, and that's why she is nervous. A simple job to adjust . the '06 should steer effortlessly with only finger tip pressures on the super slab. Hard cut angles going into a campsite WILL take a bit of technique or a LOT of effort. FAST FRED |

No wonder that poor 4106's has a hard time going down the road it has a Eagle mirror on the left side. GMC coaches don't like Eagle parts! |

Great pictures Mark. I am in the Atlanta area too and have my Eagle parked up in Marietta. Send me an email (in my profile) and we can get together and talk busses and conversions. |

Another bus-venture! These can become habit-forming, believe me. BTDT. *Sniff* now I want another '06 to park next to old Blue Velvet. She's lonely. "Honey?!" What's the VIN/livery of your new bus? Thanks for sharing, Mark. Keep us posted on your progress/ decisions (my $0.02: I hate to see a good bus parted out, but do what you gotta do). Cheers, Brian Brown PD4106-1175 Longmont, CO |

Mark and Michele thank you for sharing in your adventure. I remember the last pics when you went to see this bus for the first time. From a church, right? May you both have more adventures! |

Hey Mark & Michele, Looks like you have the beginnings of a nice "vintage" charter fleet there! We used to have 3 in our yard, now down to two. ("Sold" one to our niece & nephew.) Jim-Bob & Sue |

Hey Mark; If you start parting it out, let me know. There's some pieces I would like to replace on my 4106. Maybe we can work something out. David 4106-2774 |
