On the way to Lowes and HD My friend and I seen a stacked washer dryer setting out in front of a storage unit.after getting building materials and pricing appliances we decided to check out the stacked set. there was an appliance repair place in there, they had a brand new whirlpool compact front loader that I bought for $130.00 then bought a 10 cubic ft fridgedair fridge brand new for $100.00 both with warenties. then I came home to find my Wabesto that I got for just the cost of shipping. What a great day :-)

You may be able to replace the heating element in the dryer to work on 15A 120V, but that would be slow. If you use a solar clothes dryer, that would be even slower, but free.

If you stick with a standard 220v dryer, you will be limited to using it at 50A hookups or running your genreator.

You can't keep getting all of the free lunches :-)

good luck in finding more free lunches, at least one os us is!

So just what is wrong with 50a service or running the genset? Never seemed to be a problem with me.

Stan -

The storage facilities in Florida (as well as other states) have
modified the "bins" with plumbing, wiring and have turned
them into business store-fronts. The roll-up doors have been
removed to accommodate windows and/or doors and walls.

One of the best RV dealers and repair facilities I've had the
pleasure to visit: Malabar RV; Malabar, Fl (rt 1) operates
in one of these facilities.

The shops operating in the facilities we find down here, have
been in business for years. From upholsters to metal fabricators;
sales of appliances, to medical equipment, use these facilities.

Since the overhead is usually lower than a stand-alone building,
their prices usually reflect their savings.

I was just wondering....

If you bought the matching (or used) gas dryer, how difficult would it be to remove the gas heater and install a 12v ac heating element??oh, and fan. If you take the heat element from a room heater, they already have the overheat shut off on them in case the fan stops.
Just how much heat do you need anyway? Driers do not have a real free flow of air so might work.

JohnMC9: That is an interesting concept that I have not seen. Do you mean that the storage facility has been converted (rezoned) to a sort of retail strip mall?

Apparently so, Stan!

The first we saw of this type, was right here in Floriduh.
After recent trips to Georgia and Alablama, we found that
they're doing the same thing up there...

Driving through these locations, we see that some have
roll-up doors and padlocks, while others have two or three
units in a row, faced with wood or cement walls. Some
have display windows and doors...

storage

A more modern storage facility; older ones are similar.
