Where could I find a tank manufacturer that is located somewhere in the Midwest to cut down on shipping cost?

I know about Tank Depot, Ardemco, and Duralast, but Duralast and Ardemco at least are about as far away as you can get from Minnesota.

I bought mine at Tractor Supply $128.95 ea. for 100 gal. www.mytscstore.com but they have had 2 price increases since. I think they are at $151 ea. now.
The bad part is you have to put in the fittings yourself, The good part is you can put them where you want.

TSC's tanks are polyethelyne and welding rods are hard to find (cheap). I bought a PE kitchen cutting board (Lowes) and sliced thin strips with my band saw.

Fittings are available in a couple of places and I got mine from Roational Mouldings in FL.

The hot air welder I got on ebay for $16.00
plus shipping. Harbor Freight has them for about $30.00.
Check gumpy's website he did a great job on his and got the stuff in MN I think.

Gumpy did a nice job on his tanks, but I really don't have the time to build tanks like that. He spent around $500 for materials alone back a few years, so materials are probably $600 or $700 now.

I'll have to look at Tractor Supply again. I just picked up the latest catalog three weeks ago and didn't see any appropriate tanks.

There is a nice 100 gallon tank listed all the time on Ebay for $199 with the right fittings for fresh water.

I haven't decided if I need a black water tank or not. My old travel trailer we sometimes dumped grey water, but I suppose making a combo tank aas big as the fresh tank would solve that.

Its not the location , but the size that increases shipping costs dramatically.

If you are willing to use about 50 gal per tank , these are very light and CHEAP to ship UPS.

Once tanks get big enough to need a truck its cheaper to go get them youreself.

Duracast in FL will happily advise which tanks are sized so UPS will deliver.
The Duracast are rotomolded & designed for boats that get dropped 10 or 15 ft off wave tops and can be frequently be used in a camper with out boxing the tanks.

I talked yesterday to Duracast about shipping tanks. They can do UPS up to 150 gallons on most tank shapes. The cost is around $100 for shipping UPS. I had assumed that tanks that large would need to go truck.

I had my tanks custom built ...cheaper that I could buy a stock tank from Ardemco or local suppliers and they didn't have the size of tank I needed to fit the bay for max usage.

I phone a company that built tanks for boats and RV's. They made their tanks in a totally different process than other suppliers. They used ¼ inch PVC (gray stuff) sheets and glued they together to the size I wanted, with internal baffles, glued the fittings in and then they fiberglass the whole tank (chop gun).

I want the 2 tanks (potable tank 21 w x 66 lg x 24 h /144 gals & waste tank 22 w x 66 lg x 24 h / 151 gals) to be joined together as one tank (43 w x 66 lg x 24 h) to maximize space and to also have a piece of ¾” plywood glassed into one end for the water pump etc. to mount on.

I was quoted around 2 K for stock tanks for that volume, above and the tanks were made for around 1300 with fittings installed and threaded (NPT) if requ’d. Because they were glassed they requ’d no support frame and are very easy to clamp (secure) in the bay and they are internally baffled which you can’t get with a roto cast tank

I bought two 100 gal. tanks from Ameri-Kart Corp. in Casssopolis, MI, which is just north of Elkhart, IN. They installed the fittings where I wanted them. Tanks are 26W X 46L X 20H. Total cost for both was $505.
