Hi, I appear to have a fuel leak problem with my 1979 h8h649 with an 8v71. I changed the oil this weekend and when completed I fired it up and noticed a what appears like a fuel leek around the lower head. I can't deturmine exactly where it source is looks like it is near the lower head manifold area I checked all visable lines for looseness and leaks. I ran it two weeks ago and had no issues. Any ideas where it may be leaking from? I drove it around the block and it drove fine seamed to have normal power but smoked pretty heavily. Thanks for any help. Jack 79 H8H640-053 Burien, Wa |

At each end of each head, there are fittings, for the fuel inlet, and an outlet, Or by-pass. Chechk those lines and see of one is loose, or leeking for some other reason. Remember fuel will wick. It will look like a leek is one spot, when it will be somewhere else, and running to the spor it is dripping. Hope it helps Steve |

The fuel pump is over on the left hand side of the engine below the blower. Follow the lines over from the fuel filters checking for leaks along the way. My 4905 had a screwed up fitting on the fuel pump, you might check that. |

Hi, Found the problem, was a leaky fuel pump. Must have been leaking for a while as it was covered in dirt and grease, which made it hard to find. It also showed signs of silicon as if the prevous owner tried to fix it. Thanks all, Jack 79 H8H640-053 Burien, Wa |
