I was wondering about the drop box on a MCI or any bus for that matter that uses a drop box. Does the drop box reverse rotation to the out put side or does output shaft turn in the same direction as the input. In other words is there a idler gear between the input and output side. Does anyone out there have info. on a drop box such as dimentions, horse power and tourqe ratings. Are the drop boxes input and output shafts square with each other or are they set to an angle. Thank you in advance to anyone who can supply any info. Tim

Most MCI's are direct drive without a drop box.
Eagles were the most prevalent with them. There may be others but I don't know.

I think they are reversing??

The MC5 series uses the drop box and in it there are 3 gears: The top being the input gear, the center being the idler and the lower connected to the pinion of the axle. Consequently the input and output rotation are the same direction.

All gears are of equal size so the ratio is 1:1.

Hope this clears it up.

Bob
