All the threads about painting buses has me thinking about doing the same to mine. What I need is a quick, decent paint to cover the faded paint on the sides where lettering was. I remember somebody (FF maybe?) mentioning a marine paint that looks good and can be rolled on. I don't really want to completely strip it at this point. It looks like the alum. sides were painted with high quality spray paint, but the big red stripe down the side was put on with a roller. It doesn't look too bad, except where it's faded. I can easily scuff it up and feather areas that need it. What are some recommendations? Thanks. |

__. The paint job that I got last summer in High Point used ordinary NAPA paint. Good (not wonderful but good) quality and available anywhere for touchups. Came out looking fine. I'd suggest you look at that - no fancy primers, catalysts, etc. needed. Sounds like just what you need for your "nothing fancy" job. Bruce Henderson, Wallace NC |

Anybody ever use "Mack truck paint"? I know they sell the stuff pretty cheap for commercial truck application, and it goes on easy and don't look too bad. I'd like to do my bus with a Kool-seal roof, "Mack truck green" around the windows and "Mack truck white" from the windows down. Casper4104 |

I used a brand called "Nason", which is a division of DuPont. A gallon "kit" comes with the gallon of paint, and the necessary hardener/thinner. Although its not 'mixed', They have a great color selection. Seems like the prices ranged from about $50 to $100 per gallon, depending on color. Info: 1-800-3DuPont or www.performancecoatings.dupont.com I buy the paint at my local autobody supplier. I painted my MC8, my tow car and.... the windshield of my Toyota pickup with it......click on my name and see the colors that I chose. I hope this helps. Chuck Lott douglasville Ga |

We used Rustoleum on ours, the marine paint we have used is Interlux Britesides, its a one part poly needs the right primer use a roll and tip method (one person rolls it on and the other follows with a foam brush or good bristle type to smooth it out get rid of the bubbles. It works well, weve painted our boat and bus with this method. the rustloeum gets 3-4 years, the britesides is 6 and counting but it goes on thinner and shows imperfections more because of the thinner coats and higher shine. Semi gloss shows the flaws less than hi gloss |

My grandfather used to paint his rambler station wagon with a brush and house paint. (not latex). ( once a year! )... If you want it perfect then prep it right, prime it with epoxy and paint with dupont Imron. Or paint it white and have it wrapped.... change the wrap every few years to get a new design.... |

The first coach we purchased from Greyhound Calgary cost us so much money to get certified we had no money left for powder and paint but i had to loose the greyhound colors so i striped and sanded the bus down painted tremclad primer then two coats walmart rv white all with a roller and brush just for parts now but that paint job still looks half decent cosidering what it cost, couple hundred. |
