I finally pulled into my driveway with my bus at 11:00 am Wednesday morning. I had originally planned to be back Sunday evening.

I didn't get on the road out of Roanoke, VA until Saturday morning. I had tires put on and some service work done. I had planned to be on the road Friday evening.

I spent most of Monday at a Detroit Diesel dealer in Youngstown, OH getting my overheating problem looked at.

I was able to get to Elkhart, IN by 10 am Tuesday. I spent most of the day at Bontrager's and RV Surplus Salvage since I was passing through. I bought a stove and three tanks.

Good thing my boss was understanding about not getting back to work until Wednesday afternoon.

So what ended up being the cause of the overheating problem?

It is still overheating, but it is flat enough from Ohio to Minnesota that it didn't get very hot.

The Detroit dealer in Youngstown, Ohio looked at some basic stuff and said just pull over to cool it down if the alarm lights come on again. It alarms at 219F.

I think they wanted to get me back on road so they didn't do extensive testing. I'm going to check a few things and take it over to C & J Bus Repair if I can't find anything.

Do you recall if Bontragers had any barrel chairs or recliners? Two matching? My buddy is making a run to Elkhart and I can tag along but I don't want to waste the trip if what I want isn't there.

Good luck with C&J. They are good guys. Look up JD - Operations Manager. He took good care of me.

Ross, I'm pretty sure Bontrager's had some recliners. Barrel chairs I'm not sure about. I was looking mostly at sofas and didn't pay too much attention to the rest.

Mark, yes, I talked to JD over C&J. His plan is to put the bus up on a lift and go over the chassis with me. That will at least give me an idea where things stand.

Brian, JD is super knowledgable and honest! You can't go wrong, with his help! Might not be cheap(so to say!), but on the other hand if it gets fixed right the first time and at a reasonable cost, than it could be cheaper than trial an error. What I'm saying is consider any and all options JD recommends, I know he's always honest with me and tells when he can save me $ and when he can't! Not to many people will tll ya, that they can't save you $ if trying to sell you something! Busted Knuckle
