I didn't have a good day, I spent three hours loading up the bus and hooking up a borrowed trailer to go pick up the steel framework for my new 35'x52' garage, when at the *last* minute I thought I better call to make sure they had time to load me up. I mean I had the house locked up and the bus running.

They were closed for Good Friday. WHO CLOSES FOR GOOD FRIDAY????? At least I didn't drive the 250 mile round trip to see they were closed. I told them the week before I was coming sometime this week and they didn't tell me they were going to be closed on Friday....

That sucks, doesn't it? My luck is that I don't check and find that out when I get there.

Closing for religions holidays isn't exactly fair for those that aren't of that particular. Some Christian denominations don't do Easter because of it's pagan roots.

But hey, if I'm working for a company that wants me to take a day off, you can call it St. Bob's day, patron saint of sloth, and I'll take it. :-)

It just sucks when it coincides with something you need to do. I spent part of Thursday evening figuring out which banks would be open, and which had altered hours. I got two checks late today, so if I do ATM deposits, I still don't know if they'll be processed tomorrow, Monday, or even Tuesday. My bank's web site says they are open Monday. We'll see if they have a notice posted on the door when I show up for my midnight deposit.

And to keep this on topic, the deposit I'm making is going to be paying for the repairs on my bus. :-) Well, if the guy ever calls saying that it's ready. I'll be giving him a call on Tuesday to see what progress is. I have to wait for it to be back in it's regular happy parking spot, so I can order parts. It's staying parked at a friends place, and he doesn't have anywhere to store parts like the tanks.

I'm so damned anxious to get back to work on the beast. I keep going to hardware stores looking at stuff, wanting to just load up a cart and head towards the checkout.

I find myself doing the mental math. I need so many feet of insulation, so many square feet of this, this, that. Oh ya, I wanted to put in a wiring tunnel down the drivers side. What to prewire, what will get hooked up later. Oh look, they have color/infrared cameras on aisle 99. Oohh this breaker box would work well.

And the damned bus is still sitting at the shop.

I have to get the clutch in my car fixed. My girlfriend slipped it a bit too much, and now it slips a little at WOT. Damned cars with too much horsepower. I'm planning on driving it over, so I can spend lots of time working on the bus next time I'm out, without every extra day I'm there costing me money on a rental car. I have two friends out there that want to go racing with me, so I don't want to bring the slower one out. (275hp vs 350hp). A 2500 mile drive means an oil change before I leave, and after I get there. That's always entertaining.

"When's the last time you had an oil change?"
"Three days ago."
"What?"
"3 days ago I left LA. 2500 miles."

It probably won't really need it. It's a 6 speed stick. I drop it in 6th, set the cruise for 80mph, and it idles for most of the trip. I burn up a lot of gas on on-ramps, but still average 26mpg for the trip. The seat is so comfortable in my car, I'm thinking of trying to rig one up in the bus. Would I be the only one with a sports car bucket seat for the drivers seat in a bus??

What's the age demographic here? I'll start. I'm 32, ready to retire, still with the teenage "need more horsepower" attitude. At least I got over the tire smoking years. Now, when I put power to the road, I want it to stay there. If the tires are spinning, you're not accelerating.

Here's one better than that! I cazlled a place in Tampa today to see if they had this nasa type insulation for my NEW corn cooker that will roast corn on the cob and they said sure it was in stock. I asked the lady what time they closed today and she kindly said 5 pm. Well with the two guys I have working for me and the job ahead, I thought I better kick it in gear and get the job done asap. Got it done with time to spare and the two guys needed thier pay checks. Uh, forgot all about that, so off to the house I go and do the paperwork for pay checks. Uh, now they want to go to the bank, so that was my next stop before taking them home which by the way is in opposite directions of Tampa. Anyway I talked one guy into getting dropped off at a local McD's and he talked his ride into taking home the other helper. Thanks to him I made to Tampa with about an hour (4:05 pm) to spare ONLY to find out the huge warehouse parking lot was completely empty. Uh, I then go up to the office door and see there are no lights and no un-locked door. I now think why are they closed? It's only 4pm. OH wait, it's good Friday! I called the number and the voice mail said Our hours are from 7am to 5pm. Needless to say, I made a wasted trip to and from Tampa during rush hour which is NOT fun and I really needed that insulation for Sunday as the New cooker will be underway! Oh well, chalk it up to another one of my not calling before I leave days!

Ah yes, I feel much better now! :-)
