Hi folks,

I just moved 6 message threads from THE BOARD over to WoBN's The Flea Market.

Before starting to type your message, may I suggest that you pause for just a quick moment, consider where your message belongs, click on the link to that section, then start typing your thoughts.

The mastheads for each section pretty much describe where your message should be, though threads like "Hey motorcoach1" are kinda out there in their own little world, eventually deleted, I would think.

Generally, though, think in terms of how permanent a record you think your message needs to be. If you are selling a little part or something from your garage that's surplus to you, or you are trying to source a part for your conversion, WoBN's The Flea Market is the place these can go. But your message probably doesn't need to be permanently stored in the archives. Pretty much everything else can go onto THE BOARD and the other sections are self evident.

And just so the newbie's understand what I'm saying here, THE BOARD messages are archived forever, WoBN's The Flea Market messages are deleted after about 2 to 3 months.

Every now and agiain, I like to slip this little reminder in to all our friendly bbs authors here at BNO. But if you leave a message in the wrong place, please know that no one is upset with you - I'm happy to move it to the right section for you.

Thanks folks. Enjoy :~)

I do not believe it is possible to edit or delete other persons posts, only your own and that is limited to 30 minutes.

I@N, any chance of getting that time increased?

Hi folks,

For DML and H3Jim who had a conversation on the beautiful new MAK bulletin board (www.busconversions.com/bbs), very ably moderated by Phil Lyons, and in response to DML's request, above, I have increased the time limit for editing one's own message on this bulletin board system to 24 hours.

In the above mentioned thread on the new MAK board, and through a personal email to me, Gusc had suggested I reverse the order of a thread's messages so that the most recent response is at the top. I answered Gus that the topics pages follow that order - in other words, the latest topic started will always appear at the top of the main topic page. But the messages in the topic read like a book, with the latest message at the bottom.

I do this because I believe it forces the viewer to read the subject line, making it less likely for that viewer to hijack the thread, meaning the thread has less of a chance of going off topic. Inevitably, I edit out as much of the hijacked hijinks that I can depending how closely I'm watching the board, but I still think if you see the subject matter first, it's less of a distraction than to see the "new" hijacked direction the thread had then taken.

However, your comments on this subject matter are always welcome and if the majority of readers want it changed, just say so.

And just before anyone starts counting the yeah's and nay's in this thread, please remember that when I ask a question on the bulletin board, I usually get dozens and dozens of replies from viewers who never post because of the inherent fear of getting flamed - not that that ever happens here, right?

Don't mess with it I@N. I love it the way it is.
Richard

and many thanks for increasing the time frame so that I can correct my many errors. Usually I do not catch them for a couple of hours.

It has a large "13" on it. :-)
