I am looking for help in removing the overhead parcel racks form my MCI 8 coach. Are they all one piece, or do they come out in sections? Any feedback would be appreciated.

My MC9 racks came out in two pieces. They are spliced about the middle. Be aware of the wiring for a side marker light and the passenger lighting running through them. They are still heavy!

MC-8 parcel racks are in sections spliced together. You will need to drill out the rivets where they are spliced. The bottoms are a masonite type material that fits in a groovee along the aluminum extrusion that is at each wall. The are indirect lights that are fed from the front of the racks. The wires come through a hole near the front of the wall side aluminum extrusions on each side. The brackets on the aisle side that run to the ceiling are easily unbolted. You may have to pry somewhat to force the sections of the racks apart. Once you have them apart that are fairly easy to handle and remove from the bus. You will also need to remove the curved sections at the front and the ends at the rear. If you have anauxilary A/C evaporator assembly on the drivers side at the back, the easiest thing to do is to cut the parcel shelf and aisle side aluminum section just ahead of the A/C unit, remove the shelves and then remove this unit separately.

the racks in my mci9 came out in about 5 pieces..each side.... i used a sawz-all to cut it in manageable size chunks... let them fall to the floor....i i removed the light fixtures prior to chopping it up... kinda rough way, but as i didnt have any plans to re-use the racks, i was just selling scrap...there is electrical wiring for speakers, video, and lights in a chase inside each rack... locate and disconnect it first...

I sold 1 section of my in station lights to a friend that used them to light up a bill board sign that he painted with black light paint,he repalced the bulbs with black light bulbs wow what a sign we can see it for miles. I used 2 of the in station light rails in my shop and the last one for my porch light.
