Hey fellers, I've talked to the nice people at Curved Glass Dist. up in connecticut, and they have the windshield I need for my bus. The cost will be $130 for the windshield, and $120 for freight to Marietta Ohio (to a business with a loading dock no less, delivery to my house would be even more), and that just sucks. Does anybody know any tricks for getting this done cheaper? Does anybody in the OH/WV/WesternPA area want to order something too and split the freight charge? Is anybody coming west out of new england this summer? I know I'll probably have to either bite the bullet and pay it, or take a long weekend trip to Yankeeland and pick it up myself, which could be fun. If anybody knows a shortcut or is coming this way and can help I'd sure like to hear about it. Thanks, Casper PD4104-3103 |

If it is withing 50 gallons of fuel range, go pick it up and call it a holiday excursion for your money. $300 bucks for a windshield and mini holiday is awfully cheap to me and my net income was only $2666 last year (which is half the global gross national mean average income-hummmm; "not that there is anything wrong with that"). It ain't how much you got , "but how much you get out of spending it" or not. |

It's closer to 100 gallons round trip, which is close to $300 fuel cost - so I'm looking at $420 for my windshield+mini vacation, which still ain't too bad. My wife wants to do some New England traveling, so we may do that. "Net" income huh... I know a lot of farmers who drive new super-duty fords, but have a negative net almost every year on the farm. I hope that's your situation. Thanks for the reply, Casper4104 |

Not sure if they have a windshield for your bus, but I priced a windshield from Curved glass for my MC-8, then checked with MCI parts division. Although the windshield was about 20.00 more, MCI have free shipping, so the windshield was actually cheaper. www.mcibus.com Hope this helps, Jack |

if you are repacing one side with new glass you might want to replace both sides at the same time . this is what the bus companys do due to the different tinting of the pieces of glass. i changed just one side on my 4104 and when i got it in it looked like heck so i got the other side only the freight was the again and they would have shipped both for $25 more than for just one. i think that da book says change both when you have to change one. you might wnt to get the new rubber at the same time. i got mine from MCI . they are easy to replace as i did mine by my self and it took me a couple hours. if you change them both be sure to use the box and save the good one. |

If you get 10 windshields the shipping is free. check around with other bus nuts. They may need them. I live in Calfornia and shipping was free when I ordered 10. |

You should be able to obtain a windshield from a local auto glass company if it is for your 4104. Very common item and both sides are the same and fit prevost with curved side glass, 4106, 4107, 4108, 4903,4905, 4906, and H8H649.Unless you live in nowhere USA.Should replace weatherstrip while you are at it if they are in poor condition. |

if they said you need a loading dock to get the create off the truck , thats not true at Ace glass we hand lift them off , there lite ,even in the create. it may be for insurance reasons why they won't deliver at your house. get with a local glass company that will except shipment and tell them you except all responsibility for breakage. |

When I bought mine from Curved Glass they gave me the option of waiting until they had a shipment for stock and just added it onto the stocking shipment. They didn't even charge any freight-but this was a number of years ago. It might be worth talking to them if you have the time to wait. |

I agree with Mel, if you're going to change one, change both. Mine had one done at some point, and there is a slight difference in look from inside. It's asthetic, so I'm not really concerned. I was running through ideas on acquiring it in my head. The best I came up with was borrowing a pickup, but you'd need to rig it to carry a windshield, which may be more costly than paying shipping. |

The loading dock requirement may have to do with access room for a semi to get in & out & the proper methods for unloading in a timely fashon. It's just easier for the shipping company who is not familiar with your site. Truckers have schedules & don't want to be late for the next delivery. Just a thought. kyle4501 |
