The fellow who is renting a dock from my neighbor turns wooden bowls , and sells them at art shows.
Seems to make a living at it , but he has an electrical problem .
He uses a 220V single phase motor to do the turning , and somehow the speed controll is having problems.
Works GREAT fast but does not slow down enough , anymore.
Does any one have a source for these units?

alot of the wood working magazines have varable speed controls for routers and the like. i'v seen several 220 volt routers out there. that might be a viable alternative. also at scientific supply houses the have whats called a variac very large rheostat for controlling heat loads and motor loads. i have no idea as to what the cost but i do know they come in 220 volt's. i have one for 110 and it works great for all kinds of things, just plug it in and plug whatever into it. hopefully this gives you a start.
